| Looking for an idea for a game. 2 months ago my computer had a hard rive crash and I lost all my saved data, which included my Vanya Sulie game. I had invested well over 500 hours in to the game and was almost done with it. Needless to say I was sickened and disgusted when I lost it all. I have decided to do another game but I don't want to go all the way back through trying to remember all the quests, characters, and just stuff I had in Vanya Sulie. SO what I have come up with is taking an existing IP and making a what if game based on it, here is an example of what I am talking about: What if Suron had won the War of the Ring. What happens in this game is that Gandalf never comes back from his fall in Moria. When he and the Balrog fall into the abyss that's it for him. Some fo the effects from this are: Theoden never gets out from underneath Sarumon's control so Minis Tirith falls to the Witch King cause the Riders of Rohan never show up. The Witch King never dies cause Eowyn never shows up to kill him. Aragorn and Gandalf don't take the troops to the Black Gate to draw the armies out of Mordor which leads to Frodo and Sam getting captured and the ring is taken from Frodo, then he and Sam are tortured and killed. Aragorn, Gimili, and Legolas never met up with Gandalf at Mirkwood so they proceed to Minis Tirith where Gimili and Legolas are killed in the battle and only Aragorn survives and flees North and takes Arwen into hiding. Merry and Pippen stay with Treebeard until Saron's forces go into Mirkwood and kill all the ents that are left. They are also killed in the battle. The game starts with the son of Aragorn and Arwen turning 20. He has been training his whole life to try and take back the land from Saron. This is the tale of that adventure. Another one I have thought of is what if Anakin had never been burned. What would have happened to the universe then? If you have any suggestions on an IP to use feel free to post them here. Thanks.

| I don't know if I'd play a video game based on it, but it would make a pretty damn good book if Sauron won the war just to see an alternate perspective. Pretty cool movie too if Peter Jackson made a dark gritty apocalyptic slaughter of the west type movie |

+3 Internets | The Midnight RPG campaign setting sounds very much like what you're describing. Originally it copied a lot from LoTR but over time it became its own thing. Fantasy Flight is the publisher (same folks who do WHRPG, the new Rogue Trader RPG, Twilight Imperium board game, Descent, etc). Midnight (role-playing game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia You might wish to have a look through that and draw ideas. I believe they even began doing a B-Movie based on it that has just been drifting in development limbo. YouTube - Midnight Chronicles Trailer |

| This might sound like blasphemy to the real Fantasy folks out there, bringing Harry Potter into the same sphere as LoTR but what if Harry was never the one cursed by Voldemort? As Dumbledore stated, Harry and Neville were both likely candidates to be the one mentioned in the prophesy made by Trelawney. That would be a totally different story. Let me think of what would be different and get back to you ![]() |

| it sounds like you're making an RPG, probably with that RPG maker program, which is cool. however, the lord of the rings thing is pretty played out. i haven't looked but i would think that your RPG would be among many user created lord of the ring theme type RPGs. if you want people to play your game go for something a little more fun and cheeky, like millie's idea for a karate kid RPG, or the barkley: shut up and jam GAIDEN rpg that is a pretty big hit. be more creative and be more original i guess. |

+7 Internets | No offense man, but how do you not have multiple back ups of "500+ hours"? Friend of mine and I are making a game and we have that son of a bitch backed up from here till Christmas. Good luck with your new game, but if you want something amazing, get away from fantasy based RPG's. |

| I agree Fantasy based RPG's are done to death. Do something creative that is somewhat real world related. If you can't think of anything base it off of a cool movie or something. Ever see the original V and V The final battle? Make a game based on something like that. Or a game like Red Dawn. I wish they had games like those. To play as Michael Donavan or a Wolverine would be bas ass.
