| Millie RPG Update / Question Ok, so there isn't really an "update," per se. ![]() Mainly I just wanted to let everyone know that I really, really want to make this a tactical RPG like FFT or JD, and not a traditional RPG. Is there any software out there that can do this? Like, an open-source but easy-to-use version of the FFT engine or something? Or is there a mod to RPGMaker that accomplishes this goal? Thanks in advance. |

+12 Internets | For RMXP I could find this, though it looks to be pretty WIP still. Still resembles RMXP more than FFT from the screenshots, haha. Saw a few mentions of a Japanese one, but I never found a link to it. [RGSS]TBS - V1.2 - Spontaneous Generation I don't know of anything "user-friendly" built to make that specific kind of game though. ![]() |

I guess I'm left wondering whether any of them are n00b-friendly on the programming side. I have little to no programming background, and I'm not keen to learn C++ or anything else just for the purposes of designing a game (WC3's trigger editor was about as complex a language as I can handle). Before I spend $100+ on an engine, I want to make sure I am able to get some use out of it. Any personal experience? Is Torque what you guys used for Uberworlds? | |

| If I'm going to resort to RPG Maker, I might as well wait till Feb 2008 to get RPG Maker VX. From what I've been reading about it, it looks pretty cool. Very newbie-friendly, and the games look very FFIV-esque (aside from the DQ-style combat engine). |

+20 Internets | Have you already made your Design Document? If you're going to wait until February and haven't made it, you should use the next 2-3 months to polish what you're going to do for sure. I imagine once you start creating many things on the fly you set yourself up for a headache and not finishing. Obviously your things will vary from the basic context of this template, but I think you could find it useful: http://members.shaw.ca/loganfoster/t...c_Template.zip |
