| As the above have said, that picture is fantastic. However it really gives me the vibe from adventure-puzzle games like the King's Quest series, more than an RPG. I really can't explain why, to be honest, but something about the background with the Millie char there gives me that impression. Also, I haven't laughed so hard at something in a long time, but man that "dead Millie with faerie" picture and "Millie dies" and how to get her back made me crack up to the point of crying... |

+12 Internets | Yeah, it's the same basic idea as those early 90's point and click Sierra/Lucasarts type games. I was playing around with Adventure Game Studio, and on the forums they were posting some cool looking backgrounds, which is what made me want to do it this way. A place like a town might not look quite as adventure game looking though. I'll have to line it up more with the passability grid to make sure that you can walk to the building doors and stuff. I can do the style however too. I could even make it pixel-art only doing it in photoshop so I'm not bound by VX's tile limitations. It'd take me longer cause it requires more preplanning to do rather than just plotting around globs of colors like painting is. Sort of like how Paul Robertson does his videos, although I'm not quite up to his ability in spriting/animation yet. He tiles stuff sometimes but since they're not real games he isn't bound to the limitations of making actual 32x32 repeatable tiles. Spoiler Alert, click show to read: I'll do whatever you guys think would be more fun to play/look at. I just want it to look unique, and possibly make people not even realize they're playing an RMVX game at all. I can't promise good gameplay, good storyline, or any of that stuff but I should be able to make it look nice. Basically on par with most commercial products these days :3 Last edited by Laladilya : 04-21-2008 at 02:10 AM. |

Looks nice and mysterious to me, although i've never seen a waterfall go into the sea. Who gives a shit, it looks good and it's fantasy.

+20 Internets | It does happen, actually quite often, but I don't think it would ever happen that close to a beach. Generally a waterfall into the sea would be coming from a large overhanging cliff, with only rocks and stuff below and around it. Doesn't matter though, I'm less concerned about the realism of it and more interested in whether or not there will be a sweet hidden cave behind the waterfall. ![]() |

1. Find hidden cave. 2. Explore cave. 3. Find quest in cave. 4. Go on quest. 5. Obtain item for quest completion 6. New item allows you to discover the underwater cave below the waterfall. 7. Go into underwater cave

+12 Internets | Haha, I didn't really think about it when I made it. I had a headache. It had water, I felt it must have a waterfall! I didn't use any references for it, but searching google for "waterfalls on the ocean" I found this pic which is sort of like what I was thinking of. Says this is in CA but I was thinking of scenes from Pirates of the Carribean. =P I'm not good at geography so I don't know what they're called, coves or something. The guy is just an art friend who gives me shit about anything. I do the same to him. He only paints mechs, and hates the lasers in Star Wars for some reason, so anytime he sends me stuff for crits/paintovers I paint star wars laser beams all over it. =P Do point stuff like that out though. I usually reference stuff better beforehand but I still probably wouldn't have made any connection that waterfalls on oceans are rare. They're even more rare here, so I just assume they must be everywhere else I do like to try to be accurate unless I have reason not to be (like a robot cave). |

| Waterfalls always need hidden caves, otherwise it isn't a waterfall. I even remember being taught in high school that waterfalls do actually tend to have little caves behind them IRL.
