changes in season

i haven't read everything here so if this has already been said go ahead and delete this but has anyone considered implementing different seasons into a game? you could have various changes to a zone's events, quests, weather, level of risk, available resources, NPCs, and mobs depending on the season... at the least it would make things a little more interesting. similar to how games sometimes differentiate night and day i guess, but on a bit larger scale. i read you are planning on doing an ongoing war with orcs and goblins vs. undead.. perhaps have the momentum of the war tipped in the favor of orcs and goblins during summer when the days are longer and the weather conditions are less harsh, and in the favor of the undead during the winter where the nights are longer and the weather is hard for the orcs/goblins. i believe something like this could really extend the playability of a game because it would make the game world much more dynamic without too much work being needed. also, it could be used to control player progression without ridiculous timesinks. remember camping for days for pieces for epic quests? instead you could have one piece of the epic available in winter, another in summer etc. the length of the year would probably be under heavy debate, but 3-4 months feels good to me.

anyway i know you guys got a lot on your plate and probably wouldn't be able to implement that anytime soon.. just thought of that and figured i'd share with you.
