Wiki is now public

Main Page - UberWorlds Development Wiki

Anyone who's hung out in irc has probably seen the wiki mentioned many times. At this stage it's our primary collaborative design tool which represents the things that are going to be implemented into the game. It represents a more concrete view of what's happening then you can currently see in the forums.

I'm sure there are better software packages around that does the same thing and better, and maybe eventually we'll move to such a package, but atm the wiki seems like a good step above forums, and another big advantage is that people are able to use it while at work!

Generally what is on the wiki has been decided upon, and baring general polish and fine tuning, not subject to discussion.

Editing rights are only given to those people actively participating in the project. If you want to be a part of that, identify something that needs to be done, there's going to be a lot of that, let the person managing that project know you'll be working on it, and then do it. At the moment, its either Brain (Fattyfat) or Myself (Faille). Once you've done something then you'll be up for consideration to become part of the team and have more access to the tools needed to participate.

Feel free to add any feedback you have about the wiki, and the system in general. We're all pretty much in the same boat, and learning as we go along, so any suggestions will definitely be considered and I'm sure we'll use anything that helps.

If you checked out the wiki then you may have seen the Server Info.

I plan on leaving the server up as much as possible and the patchnotes will be available on the wiki. Realize this isn't a game, its a testing grounds for our work. You are welcome to check it out and give feedback on the forums. If you find bugs please let us know, I'd like to get them fixed up!

Also, before posting about bugs please check the wiki TODO and wiki BUGS sections. These are lists of things to be done and fixed.

Just a quick general quesion: Since my developmental skills are lacking (read: non-existant), what is the stance on those who wish to eventually provide Lore and backstory to the setting the project eventually settles on? That I can do all day and night, and with much joy.

The stance is welcoming arms!

We're working on getting the process in place to make it easier for people to participate in small chunks they suit their skills.

ie for lore writing, we want to identify in the zone designs what sort of quests are needed, ie kill 20 wolves, and then it will be up to the lore writers to write the dialogue and give some logical reason for it and really flesh it out.

In terms of great lore for the whole world, that's a little trickier. I don't mind people working on it, as long as they're not contradicting other people, but the important thing is to try and work out how to implement those stories into the actual game. There's only so much you can do with quests, and having long dialogs with npcs to deliver it may not be the best option.

If anyon have other ways to do it, I'm all ears.

Just be wary about Wikipedia. They have quite a few asshats running around there now putting a lot of gaming articles up for deletion.

Brian Green (Meridan 59) brought it our attention on his blog when he wrote an article entitled "Web 2.0" regarding the entry of DKP.

Even after I got ahold of Thott (Afterlife) to review that ridiculous bunch of crap to save his entry, and he authenticated it himself, they still argued to throw it out.

So for your sakes, just keep doing regular saves to anything you put there.

Jesus, I feel sick just skimming through that article. There's some serious e-cock fighting going on.

Ok. Well that's good then. I thought you wanted feedback on that place, sorry about that. I get confused how that whole wiki thing works.

I can't connect to the wiki anymore. Is the project dead?
