Pre Lobby world

Ok, what I'm going to try and setup in the next few days is a super simple world with basic teleport that lead into other worlds. What I'm hoping this will allow is for people to build their own little worlds, or versions of worlds, and have them plugged into this pre lobby quickly and easily, so they can be viewed and played around in.

Seems like people have some great ideas about how the actual lobby world should be, so what I want is for people to actually implement their versions / ideas etc, and then we can plug them into the pre-lobby. People can play around and see which is the best for the project.


Feel free to grab Multiverse and play around with it since thats what I'll be using first until a better alternative comes along. It's pretty easy to get a hang of, and with a week you can make a simple world with buildings, paths, mobs, items and quests. At that point you'll run into the same problem I did and the total lack of custom art that you want. I guess just a matter of listing what you want and either working through that list yourself or hoping some else wants to do it. With a lot of luck there will be some common stuff that people will do, like walls, and shit, and that will help build up the art depository.

One warning, I do want to make sure we keep track of who has done what, so people can use the things as part of their portfolio, but that hasn't been done yet so just be aware of that.

So basically Maya, 3D Studio MAX etc.

For terrain, they have a terrain generator tool, but you can also roll your own:

Also are we going to be (or are) registered as an official beta developer with Multiverse or are we just playing around on our own for now?

With the public beta there is no such thing anymore really. The original beta teams have progress and something to show for their projects so Multiverse is showing off what they have.
