Going here sometime in November over a weekend, and looking for things to do.

I know we could take the ferry over to Bainbridge Island, or perhaps the Victoria clipper.

Looking for other things, or perhaps things going on in November that we should make the weekend trip.

Still considering other places, but it has to be west coast.

no offense, but i lol'd @ 'hey, we're in seattle, let's go to victoria!'

seattle is my hometown and a great city. most people skip it and see vancouver instead.

it is basically sandwiched between the puget sound (the watery dip in the state of washington) and lake washington - a giant lake surrounded by homes with a couple of floating bridges leading to the east side where bellevue and kirkland (microsoft) are.

it has a fairly small downtown with many cool neighborhoods around it, but with all of the bridges and waterways it is very easy to get lost.

i would definitely see the pike place market and the waterfront and the pacific science center (built for the 1964 world's fair and includes the space needle). those three things can be done in a very long day. be sure to get some fish and chips at ivars on the waterfront and see the 'olde curiosity shop'.

other cool neighborhoods/places to go include ballard (where the locks - which connect the sound to the lake - and the fish ladder are), the university district (the u of washington campus is open and beautiful), montlake, and pioneer square (where you can take a seattle underground tour).

if you like sports, try to catch a football or baseball game in the open air stadiums.

it is a good idea to get out on a boat cruise or a ferry (cheaper, and in many ways cooler) and if you have more time, see the san juan islands by bike or car.

there are also many beautiful parks/hikes near seattle including mt. rainier, the olympic penninsula and the north cascades.

i'm happy to answer any more questions - i live in nyc now, and often miss the beauty of seattle.

Maybe an odd answer, but I do it everytime I go back home to see the family there (once a year). I eat salami at Salumi, best freaking salami in the country. Also is run by Mario Batali's dad if you're into that.

I would definitely try and catch a Seahawks or Huskies (football or basketball) game if you can. If you're looking for nightlife, there are lots of areas that might interest you depending on what you're looking for. The Belltown area (downtown on 1st Ave.) has a lot of young professionals and recent college grads, lots of lounges and clubs and great restaurants and bars. Fremont is more of the poor college kid area, but it has some personality. The U-District has some of the dingiest dive bars I've ever seen, but if you wanna get drunk for cheap, head there (particularly Earl's on the Ave, home of Seattle's strongest Long Island). Daniel's Broiler is good, and maybe try visiting one of the local breweries (Pyramid is across the street from Safeco Field, or Mac and Jack's in Redmond).

In short, eat a lot, drink a lot, watch some sports, maybe explore some nature if you want.
