White people love to say this. It's not really true. There's some allure to being a foreigner and there are some girls who will fuck whatever pink cock comes swingin through the door to an Itaewon bar, but they're by and large in the 4-6 range in looks. BTW, I'm saying this as a white dude who went to Korea and had his expectations shattered. When I first got there I saw tons of chicks who I thought were banging hot. A year later, those same girls were filthy in comparison to a good Korean girl - the kind you'd find around Apgujeong. I asked my friend about the barbershops and he said they are handjob places and the quality of women are very low. I don't think Koreans think of paying for sex as a big taboo. I was talking to a friend about how frustrated I was and she just asks me why don't I just pay for it if I want some so bad. That surprised me coming from a pretty conservative Korean girl. She even asked one of her guy friends for the price and good locations I can go to. I've met some Korean men who have asked me to go to where "the young ladies are" with them.

I heard the only reason why it is technically illegal in Korea is because of pressure from the Western countries that think prostitution is the evil, and all hookers are kidnapped and forced into it. Are there any Asian countries where prostitution isn't thriving? Singapore maybe?

When I was in the Navy my sub pulled into Korea (Pusan area) about a couple of dozen times at least. I always paid for it, never there long enough at one shot to work out the girlfriend thing, but had buds who did. Definitely possible. My hangout was Texas Street for drinking with friends, a slew of brothels catered for the 'seafarers'. I never fucked anything there because the place was swarming with scraggly looking scum from Eastern Europe, Pakistan, etc. I remember how the girls would talk freely about how they hated Russians and Pakistanis, because they stank and got beaten up sometimes. All these girls were constantly in an out between fucking, few places I've been to in the world screamed disease like this place.

I have a hypothesis that extreme hot/cold behavior towards the princess type girls would work wonders. Give em a roller coaster of emotions, but with a ratio of like 10 positive:1 negative, since the culture is very much lacking firmly grounded self-esteem. I'm sure those who have dated or tried to date have noticed a lot more affirmation is necessary and/or desired than with most girls in the states.

Fortunately the one I met didn't pull any of that bs, never demanded I prove my love for her before she gave me the time of day, or any of that crap they like to do. She's still living way too much inside her own head though.

But anyway, fuck it, go to the red light district. Nothing wrong w/ it, I just can't get comfortable with the idea. It woulda been a whole lot better if I had done that though about 3 months ago when I had self-loathing sex with some terrible excuse for a human being who ended up significantly damaging many of my friendships after the fact. Nothin wrong w/ whores. Hell, ending a bad dry spell in that way will make you more successful with the women you date in the future because you won't be obsessed with getting laid anymore.
