+70 Internets | Baltimore, MD I'm heading down to Baltimore from Boston to see the sox at Camden yards for a weekend series. I'm going with my girlfriend and was wondering if anyone knew of a nice restaurant with outside eating at inner harbor, preferably seafood. We are staying at the Holiday Inn at Inner Harbor so we will be relatively close, also anything else besides the aquarium and pickles pub I should check out while there?

Roy Yamaguchi is one of the chefs on Top Chef Masters. Great food. If you go there order the Miso Yaki Butterfish. http://www.roysrestaurant.com/pdf/pdmenus/Baltimore.pdf Sample menu. Its not 'Baltimore' crabs etc like a Philips but I guarantee you you will absolutely knock your girlfriends socks off. If you want something on the inner harbor itself - is it Capitol City brewery thats up by Philips? Its pretty decent. BTW did you use priceline for the hotel? I think I stayed there once if its the one I'm thinking of when I used priceline.

+70 Internets | I actually didn't use priceline, I just searched for hotels near camden and then searched for availability via the hotels websites, this Holiday Inn was the closest with availability. I will only be sleeping their essentially, don't plan on sitting there. While I respect your choice in restaurant I don't think it's what we're looking for. I got these as suggestions, Rusty Scupper, Phillips, and McCormicks and Schmick's. I was also told that I shouldn't miss Bo Brooks for a dive atmosphere on Saturday afternoon.

Philips, if you want to do the "baltimore" experience is ok but... Legal Sea Foods>>>>>>>>>McCormicks. And I haven't eaten at LSF ever (theres one by the Inner harbor as well).

+31 Internets | Phillips is absolutely worth going too. It ain't cheap though. Don't wander at night. You don't even want to know how quickly the neighborhoods can change in Baltimore. It's like right across the street.

| In Boston? I hope you mean Baltimore. It's true though. Really though, outside of the Inner Harbor area, it's all pretty much inner city shitville. I remember the first time we took my wife to Baltimore, we were at my mom's house in Patterson Park and there were a bunch of shots fired. The park is right between John's Hopkins and the Inner Harbor. So yeah... Fell's Point is also not bad. But it's basically next to the Inner Harbor and is about as "white" as you can get in the city (e.g. Irish Pubs and stuff).

I cant remember where we went that 'had the best crabcake' in Baltimore (we saw it on food network) - it was in the middle of the day but in a big open market type thing....that even made me a little nervous. (I don't really get nervous about run down/ (I hate using this word) ghetto neighborhoods too often).

+31 Internets | The last time I went to Phillips is was a Rockville branch and the prices were skyhigh. I couldn't remember if the Inner Harbor one was cheaper, but I know the food was great at both. Fell's Point is a worthy destination but make sure you know how to get there first, and more importantly if you do anything fun over there make sure you know how to get back. |

+70 Internets | Are cabs not as feasible in Baltimore as here in Boston? I was just assuming I could grab a cab outside the hotel and be off, and then when I was done wherever jump in a cab and head back to the hotel or whatever. I am definitely going to check out Phillips now though, and maybe I'll lean away from M&S, that was a suggestion from a college friend.

Canton has good places like Looneys and the bars on the square. Stay away from The brokerage area unless you like em underage or in gangs. It's quite the mix... Fells point is a good fallback option. It's very crowded on weekends. DO NOT miss it on Halloween though, at least for a couple hours. Mount Washington Tavern in North Baltimore is good. Water Street area is a decent happy hour spot. You'll find alot of neighborhood places (in certain areas) that are actually pretty nice. Just be careful, don;t go to the wrong hood. Stay the fuck out of West Baltimore, North Ave, Highlandtown (unless you want prostitutes with AIDS, and "the block". If you are a college student, some bars on York Road in Towson offer some nice opportunity. It's about 20 mins north of Hopkins tops.
