I second this motion. That place was pretty awesome, both foodwise and appearance wise. If you haven't been there check out the forum some too. You'll be surrounded by a bunch of tourists but it is a very vegasy thing to see. If you are going to play poker The Venetian has the nicest room with decent comps. The Belagio is better if you have serious cash, but if you aren't playing above 50/100 they will treat you like shit. If you're in to poker though you should stop by and see Table 1 and the game going on there. Some pretty awesome games and prop bets happened there. The highest stackes game ever happned there (I am blanking on the name of the guy, but there was a book written about him. He played a conglomerate of pros heads up at insane stakes, like .5M/1M a hand. The place even ran out of cranberries to play the game with, which is just nuts. I also second the Penn and Teller show, it was bitching. And if this is your first time at vegas make sure you walk down the strip at night so you can see all the mexican dudes snapping cards for call girls at you. That is the real vegas.

He is frankly a better player then most of the 'top' pros that he played against but really set the deck against himself by letting them play in 2 hour shifts while he would play in 12 hour shifts against a rotation of them. There was a whole back and forth between him and Doyle Brunson in Cardplayer magazine with him taunting Doyle about wanting to play such low limits. He wanted to play something like 2 million 4 million. They didnt have that much money and he knew it. It was actually a pretty interesting exchange for the 6 months or so it went on. Since they redid the room you really cant watch the high limit games since they are in a separate room known as 'Bobbies Room' I work at the Venetian now and while I am biased in my opinion it is definately the best room for the casual low limit player. Tons of 1-2 no limit and 2-5 no limit. Friendly staff, decent comps and your wait time for a game is usually no longer then a minute or two. Plus on the weekends you have the Ho-train from Tao coming down the stairs and walking right by the room. Back to the topic at hand. Ferraro's on flamingo is a good italian restaurant with an old school feel. Owner sits at one of the tables and will come bullshit with you during the evening. Piano player. Decent bar. Nice Ambiance. Good waiters. Good food and reasonable prices(30-50/person) The best steak I have ever had was a Rib-Eye at 9 at the palms. I have eaten there alot and while it is usually decent, one night someone worked some magic to create an amazing steak. Best Steak House in vegas is "The Steak House' at circus circus. Yes, Circus Circus. It is also about half the price of Delmonicos, David Burke, 9, Fix or a ton of others you could name. I dont eat much but Steak or Italian so I cant offer much more advice except to say that David Burke at the Venetian is really good. You can get a 7 course meal there for about 100/person that is quite original and flavorful. My best friend has been a high end waiter/captain in the town for 15 years or so so if you have any specific restaurant questions I would be happy to ask him for you. See Ka. Suck up the price of the tickets. Its worth every penny. Dont get call girls to your room. If you want a hooker, find a cab driver and have him take you to one of the private houses. Lots of hot asian girls to choose from for like 150 bucks.

| If you are just wanting to gamble and not interested in shows/restaurants you can stay and eat in Vegas fairly cheap. Excalibur has an all day buffet for $25 right now. So really it comes down to what experience you are wanting to have. Do you want to just go and check out the sites and gamble? Or do you want to experience all there is to Vegas? I live in Arizona, so me and the wife go there about 2-3 times a year. I have spent over grand for a weekend and under $200 for others. Depends how well I do on gambling and if I am going to just gamble or watch a new show/new resturant. |

+6 Internets | I was planning on taking my girlfriend to Vegas this summer (August 8-13th). I've been once and stayed at the Luxor about 8 years ago and she has never been. I think I've found a fairly reasonable deal at Planet Hollywood through Expedia ($802 for 5 nights+2 round trippers out of St Louis). This sounds pretty good but my little inner-deal-finder is tell me there has to be an even better package price. I've looked through AllegiantAir, Priceline, Travelocity, Hotwire and Orbitz. Anywhere else I should look?
