What does a mid range trip to Japan cost? A buddy and I would like to go there next year. We'll most likely split our time in half between sight seeing and partying. Anyone got any ballpark figures?

I want to go there so badly. If I go I'd want to stay a month at least which would be a ton of money.

Actually, not really. When I went, I stayed for a month and probably spent about 4-5k total (including airfare, but I was in Hawaii at the time). To fly from Chicago to Japan is like $1400+, which is a real shame. One of the reasons I don't think I can go back this year. Hawaii to Japan is only $600ish.

you can stay in japan for 3 months on a visitor visa. I rented a room for 1 month at a guest house with Sakura House. Rent only ran me $700+refundable deposit, which is CHEAP! It was after this revelation I decided to stay for a month. Lived with about...8 other people. It wasn't too bad, people mostly kept to themselves. Actually had 2 native japanese living there because it was more convenient for them to commute to school.

The next time I go, I'd like to be able to stay a full 3 months.

Ya dudes Japan is surprisingly cheap. The only expensive thing is the flight ticket. Hotels? Cheap, I spent only $50 bux a night and it was very nice quality and a Ryokan for 60 bucks a nice, also very nice. If you use a hostel, shits even cheaper. Meals? Cheap as shit, man I couldn't believe it you could get a decent meal (and a lot) for 8 bucks for dinner. And my god looking at those pics makes me miss it soooo much. I probably won't get aroudn to going back there for another year yet at least. THX ASSHOLES.
