+15 Internets | [NBA] 2009-2010 Season Preseason kicks off tomorrow with Denver versus Utah, so time to fire up our thread for the new season. Recap of some of the things happening/happened: NBA to teams: Replacement refs to start season - ESPN Mikhail Prokhorov, Russia's richest man, has deal to buy controlling interest in Nets - ESPN Another ring for Lamar Odom: Los Angeles Laker weds Khloe Kardashian - ESPN Houston Rockets' Tracy McGrady says his rehab ahead of schedule after microfracture knee surgery - ESPN Blake Griffin selected with first pick in draft by Clippers. Ricky Rubio (5th pick) says Spain > Timberwolves. Shaquille O'Neal to Cavs. Hedo Turkoglu to Raptors. Vince Carter to Magic. Ron Artest to Lakers. Trevor Ariza to Rockets. Richard Jefferson to Spurs. Shawn Marion to Mavericks. Andre Miller to Trailblazers. Allen Iverson to Grizzlies. Ben Gordon and Albino Man to Pistons. Rasheed Wallace to Celtics. Emeka Okafor to Hornets. Tyson Chandler to Bobcats. Quentin Richardson traded four times during the off-season, switches leagues, now plays for Detroit Shock. Personally looking forward to seeing how much the Thunder grow this season, definitely could be a contender in a few years and their young nucleus are all very likable guys (but so was Josh Howard). And for predictions, I'll say Lakers over Cavs in 6. After Kobe receives his Finals MVP trophy, he will then proceed to ask the question, "Yo Shaq, tell me how my ass taste?" |

| Another year of mediocrity for the Knicks, but this should be an exciting season on the whole. Hard to pick against a Cavs/Lakers finals, so I won't. And as much as I want to go with the Cavs in that series, I think Shaq, even if he's able to get into the playoffs healthy, is going to be so worn after a series with the Magic that he won't be able to give the Cavs much of anything against the Lakers. I do, however, think Kobe is going to slow a bit this year. But it won't matter with as much firepower as the Lakers have. Other teams to watch for: Magic -- the addition of Vince is a weird one, but it could pay dividends; Spurs -- added some great pieces, but Manu and to a lesser extent Tim are injury-ridden and not the players they once were; and Celtics -- if Garnett has knees, this team has potential. |

| I dont think the Carter will compensate the loss of Turkoglou. Lakers look even stronger (as if that was actually possible). Cavaliers, Lebron wont win rings without serious help, i doubt a 38 year old shaq will do. |

+15 Internets | NBA cockblocks use of cellphones, PDAs, etc., during games. I'm not fan of twatter or status updates in general, but I did think the possibility to get into a player's mindset during a game via update would have been cool. What they say there is usually more personal than the automated responses they give to interview questions, and I suppose that is one of the reasons why the NBA is blocking that because they don't want their interviews to become even more dull and repetitive. |

+26 Internets | I'd love to see how Delonte West's texting skills are. Actually, fuck that, it'd be too much for me. Anyway, it'd be nice to see some mid-road team step up and have a big year, but I can't see it happening. Rooting for Denver and Chauncy this year though. |

| Turkoglu is overrated after a career season, I think Carter will make up for his production. Either way, Orlando will be 3rd in the East imo. Shaq would have made a huge difference in the Cavs series against Orlando last year. He would have slowed down Howard enough to get Cleveland to the finals. The Celtics are going to be right there with the Cavs though if KG is healthy and with Rasheed's return. I'll go ahead and say Boston is going to make it to the Finals if they have a relatively healthy season, unfortunately. Hard to imagine the Lakers not making the finals. Even with Jefferson, I don't think the Spurs have enough depth with all the injury issues Duncan / Ginobli go through. Denver pushed em pretty good last playoffs, but Artest is such a big upgrade to guard Anthony in that series that its hard seeing them being able to do it this year when they couldn't last year. The Lakers should be better this upcoming season with a title under their belts + Artest + a healthier Bynum (of course not a given). |

| Kobe went down to Houston a few weeks ago and was being coached by Hakeem the Dream as the Dream was working with Kobe on his post up game. Who best to learn from then the best post up man to ever play.

+3 Internets | A lot of people are being quick to write Charlotte off already for some reason, but I think they will at least get the 8 seed in the east and at best the 6 seed by the time the playoffs roll around. The Chandler trade really helped them in regard to the kind of pace Larry Brown has been wanting to run with the current roster.

Can play all exept center, handles well, shoots well, passes well, runs well (kinda like Kukoc) Much harder matchup than Carter who's a "beefy shooting guard". | |
