+3 Internets | NHL 09-10 Season Well, its pretty much here with preseason already in session. Any predictions? Whos going to flop? The East is a hard decision for me. Pittsburgh Washington conference final? As for the West Im going to say Anaheim Detroit conference final with Anaheim taking it and the Cup home again.

+66 Internets | I refuse to make any predictions. It's too difficult in today's league, everyone is so close. A couple injuries can fell a sure fire contender, and a couple stand out rookies or even veterans can spark a middle of the pack team towards being a credible threat. I'll be happy if the Oilers make the playoffs and thrilled if they make it past the first round. It'll be an interesting experiment anyways. It's very rare a team fires its coach, but makes virtually zero changes to the lineup. We'll see if it was MacT not getting through or not pretty quickly. Jordan Eberle made a pretty good case for himself tonight, but considering how many forwards we have, I really can't see him being kept up for the year. I'd definitely like to see him play some regular season games, I think he can play 9-10 games before we have to make the decision to keep him for the year or send him back to junior. He outshined Tavares tonight. |

| Ed Belfour's looking to make a come back Man how I'd love for Chicago to resign him and bring him along to the cup. Such a great way for this lunatic to end his career. Love this guy. |

| Phil "The Thrill" Kessel traded to the Leafs today. Signs a 5yr $27M contract. WAY too much for a flash in the pan softie like Kessel imo. Bruins get back 1st rounder in '10, '11, and 2nd rounder in '10. Boston certainly isn't going to be getting far in the Playoffs without the marquee scorer. Kessel wasn't him, but he helped make up some G's. |

| As much as i'd like the caps to go all the way, i can't help but think we're still 1 year away.

+66 Internets | haha, talk about the prodigal son returning. For those not aware of Comrie's history in Edmonton, prior to the whole Pronger fiasco he was easily the most hated former Oiler. His unexpected trade demand in 2003 was never really explained, and naturally this being a hockey fish bowl, numerous ugly rumors were spread. The most common was that he fucked Tommy Salo's wife, or even got her pregnant (sound familiar?). Because that was around the time Salo went from being a decent NHL goaltender to a brutal one, and eventually he went back to Sweden. Apparently that was all bullshit, along with most everything else. Regardless, I was curious to see how the fans would receive him tonight, his first game back home. In his first few shifts as soon as he touched the puck a loud boo would start, but it would quickly be followed by more people cheering to drown out the boos. I was kind of surprised actually. I've got no problem with him coming back and in fact think it was a great signing considering how cheap he came. But Oiler fans are vehement, and I was pretty sure he'd get booed constantly with no one cheering. He ended up with three assists and has six points in his first two games. Not only that, but he dropped the gloves in the third period, and the crowd went nuts. He got about halfway to a standing ovation, and then when his fighting major was announced the crowd started chanting his name. I would never have predicted that in a million years. Comrie and O'Sullivan are looking good together, as is Stone, who wasn't even expected to be given much of a chance to show himself off really. It's unreal how many forwards the Oilers have that could be in the NHL, but unfortunately most are 3rd line kind of guys. It'll be interesting to see how things work out this year, after tonight I'm a bit more optimistic than I was, but I'm trying to keep in mind it's preseason, and we played the godless Panthers. |

| Happy for the leafs. I want to see more Canadian teams in the playoffs especially in the east. Tonight Edmonton Vs Vancouver both teams are undefeated. Prediction: 3-1 Vancouver Side Note: Sedin's + Shirokov had 7 points vs San Jose, lucky for Edmonton they wont play tonight. ![]() |

| A Bearded Gnome | It's pre-season...The Lions went 4-0 in preseason last year in the NFL and they ended up 0-16. Wins mean nothing right now.

| I disagree, while wins are not important to regular season statistics they certainly matter to fans, players and the coach. You think a team that goes 0-10 in the pre-season goes into the regular season full of confidence? If the team is clicking in the pre season it also means the coach has some chemistry in his lineups. |

You can't tell a damn thing from pre-season hockey in terms of how a team will start the season, let alone finish it. I mean fuck, the Oilers went 4-0 to start the season last year in the regular season. How did that end up working out for us? | |
