+2 Internets | Yea Quinn is a straight shooter and I respect that about him, and the sad part is what he says is true. The contract/Salary politics tend to make it so the best players DONT always make the team. On the flip side tho i have a feeling alot of veterans dont play as hard in the preseason because they feel they are "guaranteed" a spot on the roster so they tend to save their energy for the regular season. |

| Oshie is going to eat Nash again. The Blues are going to do some damage this year. Eric Johnson is back and hes about 13 pounds heavier. His slap shots from the blue line remind me of MacInnis (who says E.J. shoots harder than he did).

+66 Internets | Balsillie shelves dream of owning Coyotes Good, I'm glad that fuck stick won't be buying a team any time soon. He's got a lot of humility to learn and lot of fences to mend if he really wants to own an NHL team. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the franchise after this season, though. To me there's no way it will remain there. The other 29 teams are going to get fed up bankrolling a failing franchise pretty quickly. |

+2 Internets | Yea i honestly dont care what city the team ends up in... as long as it can support the team. I hate watching games where more than half the arena seats are empty lol. |

+66 Internets | Hamilton, Seattle and Kansas City all make great sense to me. Winnipeg and/or Quebec City less so, simply due to population and/or corporate support. I'm sure there's several other American cities that could potentially make a go of it, but not so sure about suitable arenas. |

+66 Internets | meh, not much of a regular season prognosticator. Kinda pointless in the end. NHLPA under fire for McMurtry's conflict of interest This is getting even more comical. So the NHLPA hires the lawyer (Kelly) who put the guy (Eagleson) who was fucking over the players and stealing their money in jail to run the association. Less than two years later, a disgruntled group of jackasses including Eric Lindros, who was reportedly misusing NHLPA funds while ombudsmen (and who was forced out by Kelly), have a 3am putsch and get his ass fired without consulting the 600 or so other members. So what do they do to justify their hasty, ill thought out actions? Hire a guy who was involved with Eagleson at the time he was forced out of the NHLPA by Kelly to back up their "just cause." Fucking genius. Absolute genius. It's almost like the union is run by a bunch of ill educated morons being controlled by a couple really smart, really greedy fucks. Oh. Wait. |

| Opening night shows why the NHL is going to be regarded as a garage league for casual viewers for the foreseeable future. In the U.S., if you have DTV you cant watch nationally telecast games because DTV dropped VS. In the U.S., the only way to get a game tonight is with NHL Center Ice, Dish Network, and cable but the CBC games arent being shown in HD. HD and availability is whats going to draw in fans, not rule changes. Its how you present your product. In the U.S., if you have Charter, you can watch games on VS but only in standard def because from what I understand Charter dropped the HD version of Versus. In the U.S., Charter somehow fucked up and isnt turning on NHL Center Ice until tomorrow, the day after opening day. I hear Comcast isnt showing the CBC games in HD tonight, either. Youre good to go if you have Dish I guess. However, Dish is going to be dropping Versus as well because they are having the same problems with Comcast that DTV is. Hey fucking NHL! Get your goddamn product on fucking ESPN so casual fans can watch. Get all the games being broadcast on Center Ice in HD. Quit being fucking stupid.

| Detective Fox Mulder | It's sad but true. At least for me all the Lightning games are televised thanks to local channels (Sunsports or Fox Sports Florida). Actually I don't even think they show Lightning games on FSF, think that's reserved for the Florida Panthers and whenever there's two baseball games on (Rays and Marlins). I do agree though it's bullshit that hockey doesn't get more coverage, it's a vastly better sport to watch (in my opinion) than basketball and baseball.

+3 Internets | Most hockey fans will agree with you (I am one of them), but the facts are, baseball, basketball, and football bring in more sponsors for the networks, so obviously, they are going to take the best business wise option and go for the money maker.

| The NHL owns Center Ice so they could ensure that every game is shown in HD on it. They also probably have the money to step into this Versus dispute and get it situated out. From what I read, ESPN is open to having the NHL but they asked for some crazy money for the rights. They should have sold ESPN the rights for cheap after the lockout.
