| Jim Thorpe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Now THATS an athlete. Olympic gold medals in the pentathlon and decathlon, played college and pro football, baseball and basketball. Also kicked a 95 yard wind assisted punt to win a game. Dude was all kinds of nails. |

| I don't think there is any doubt he is using. But they all are. His bodytype is just so much diff than theirs that if they were all clean, he'd still be above them. That is just my opinion, I am no sprinting expert. I just think it is unlikely this early that he is showing the signs because in bodybuilders when it happens it usually takes years of a drug bill somewhere between 30 and 60k a year, and growth hormone dosages which are astronomical. | Here is a little story that happened while I was on vaca... Last week im in a restaurant with my girlfriend. We walk to our table and there is a black family of about 5 sitting behind us. I don't really look at faces. We get drinks and they are talking about track and field. I found that kind of odd because it is rare you hear people talking about the long jump, or the # of titles colleges have in T&F. So then something about Usain Bolt came up when they showed him on ESPN between the two of us, and my gf was asking me about if I think he is clean. So I go off on a tangent trying to explain the magnitude of what he has done record wise, and why I don't think he is clean, and so on and so forth. Meanwhile the group behind us has stopped talking so much, as if they are almost listening. So the table behind us is getting ready to leave and just out of curiousity I look behind me. The guy who was talking was Carl Lewis. Talk about putting your foot in your mouth acting like you know shit about track and field when a legend is sitting behind you, lol. +66 Internets | Also, I thought this was a pretty good article, with both perspectives: Too fast to be clean? - Sports - Macleans.ca The graph attached below is extremely telling, IMO. The only other significant outlier there is our good friend Ben Johnson in 1988, and we all know about him. But then again, Bolt is pretty unique physically: Quote:

+66 Internets | I don't know if that's true. The article talks about Donovan Bailey who was one of the premiere sprinters in the 90's, and he went to great lengths to cooperate and go above what was required with testing, and that was prior to the "designer" steroids used by Jones etc. But I'd agree that most, even today, are cheating in one way or another. |

In most circumstances there doesn't even need to be a warning in order for someone to prep for a test, like the ways that people navigated around urinalysis, or people detoxing/cleansing for a drug test nowadays(I don't even know if you can do that really with weed/other drugs, I've only heard about it, can you?). Everything needed to pass a test is taken right along with the PED's. No warning? No problem! They'll never stop it unless they quadruple(at least) their funding for drug testing and test for *everything*. Looking at a report of someones ratios and the results of tests for common drugs is absolutely pointless. | |

+66 Internets | What decision? No decision has been made. So how can it be arbitrary? The fact of the matter is, she is NOT a woman. Nor is she a man. She's somewhere in between. It's a very difficult subject, and I'm glad I don't have to make the decision. I remember some dude who had a sex change to become female was trying to get on to the LPGA tour a few years back, but I can't remember what happened with it. Easiest solution would be to just say "fuck it, no more gender based competitions, best of the best and that's it." Of course, that would mean female athletics would shrivel and die, because it's a physiological fact that they are inferior to men in any test of physical strength, skill or endurance. But I mean, who gives a fuck about most women's sports other than tennis and beach volleyball anyways? Personally I stopped giving a shit about female sports when I heard Canada's national female hockey team was beaten by an American highschool boys team. What a fucking joke. Hell, I grew up playing hockey with the highest scoring Canadian Intramural Sports female of all time. Once the boys started hitting puberty, she had no hope in hell of being competitive, so she went over to girl's only hockey. Meanwhile our schools would fall over themselves to congratulate her on any accomplishment she or her team made, while there were dozens of boys playing at far higher levels of competitiveness. In short, I actually don't really give a shit about this whole shenanigan, because female athletics are a joke anyways. If they want to make it even less respectable, sure, by all means let a shemale compete against actual women. Fuck, let Bolt run against women provided his nuts stay tucked and he wears a bit of lipstick for all I care. Last edited by Eomer; 09-11-2009 at 07:08 PM.. |

| Until someone comes up with a better basis for splitting athletic talent, gender is pretty useful for 99% of cases. I think eventually there should be a split based off of something more concrete (genetic potential, chemical levels, etc) but until then, it works fairly well and I don't see an issue with Women's sports (I don't think it's inferior to men's, just like I don't think lightweights are inferior to heavyweights in Wrestling, MMA, boxing, etc.) Last edited by Mimirswell; 09-11-2009 at 07:21 PM.. |
