The Bengal's line isn't in horrible shape even without Smith. Absolutely, Smith makes the line better though. They gutted most of it, so on the whole they're much more athletic and talented guys...but with little experience. The line was fairly terrible at times last year, but the Bengals had zero offense. A lot of that wasn't the line, it was just shitty players. Of course some of that was the line too.

But, questions on Smith's character have to play out still, I think. He put in a lot of effort for rookie camp and mini camp. Half of the first round isn't signed still. So, singling out one guy seems a little ridiculous. I mean, I guess you'd think Monroe would've been a better pick...and guess who is also holding out.

I can actually understand the Bengal's position this time. They are between a rock (QB signing) and a hard place (Al Davis signing), which has inflated Smith's value.

I don't understand how people can have the Seahawks ranked so low. There's really no reason they can't contend for a wild-card spot, assuming they don't get fucked in the ass by the injury gods like last year. Oh well, staying under the radar is fine. I just hope we can find a decent running back.

Interested to watch how the human beer truck aka Owen Schmitt does for you guys in Seattle starting at fullback this year, we all loved him to death in college and he opened a ton of holes for Slaton and Pat White. Going from division III all the way up the hard way to the NFL is an awesome story, hope the kid works out and has a long career.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet Vick goes to Seattle.

That just means it's going to trial. Grand Jury's indict like 98% of the time.

...and in this case, only indicted half the defendants, they let Antonio Pierce off, we'll see if Goodell does the same.

Plax likely going to jail absent some nice plea.

I can only pray you're wrong. Crayton is nothing but a mediocre slot guy that contributes nothing on special teams (I don't count his fair catch punt returns).

I'm hoping Miles Austin can step it up this year, or maybe even Sam Hurd. Crayton's 15 minutes of fame for that TD catch against the Skins several years ago is long gone.
Because Crayton has one thing over Miles and Sam, he stays healthy. I don't think either of them have been healthy for more than a couple games the last 2 years, Miles played hurt alot of the games because they had no choice.

I hope the guy from 4th and Long makes it over Isiah Stanback (who is hurt again, is this his 3rd year now?), they have been saying good things about him.

And as much as Roy Williams sucked last year, he did have planar fasciitis, so I can cut him some slack because that shit hurts just walking around normally.

For opposing teams, I'd be very worried about Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett on the field at the same time, Marty B showed some flashes of brilliance last year and some of the catches he made with 1-2 guys on him he was uncover able. That guy is huge.

Cowboys season comes down to 2 things:

1) Starting offensive line staying healthy, right now there is no depth and it caused alot of problems last year.
2) Jason Garrett figuring out how to utilize 3 amazing running backs and 2 threat TEs.

Pierce didn't do anything criminal and has never been charged with anything. Goodell has nothing to go on.

This is from him shooting himself in the club last year, not a new charge, right?

I'm gonna add Consistent Special Teams play to your short list. I know the problems last year extended beyond any one thing, but the past two years on Special Teams have been absolutely brutal. I think Joe D is the spark they need to stop making stupid mistakes on these units. Oh, and extend "healthy offensive line" to a "healthy team". The injury bug cannot come back like it did last year.

From PFT (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...t-for-pierce/:)

Quote:
In all candor, the absence of an indictment means that the grand jury opted to ignore the letter of the law, which imposes criminal liability upon anyone who has possession of a loaded and unlicensed firearm in New York. It's possible that the Giants employees who testified helped to exonerate Pierce by testifying that they told him to take the gun to Burress' wife.

Even so, possession is possession. And Pierce got a gift from the grand jury.
I know some people hate that site for whatever reason, but they're correct and he could have faced felony charges himself. Him admitting to have done that is plenty for Goodell to take action on, no idea how likely that will be.

Plax shot himself, not Pierce. Pierce was with him and took him to the hospital. What could of been damaging for Pierce was him carrying the gun back to the wife. He was never charged with anything though.
