| We bawlin boi! | Umm, sorry, but Favre leads the league in all categories of: joy, childlike fun, and Love-of-the-game™.

| I'm not saying it isn't a fluff piece, but for the most part it's true. His rookie year he came in and gave the team a swagger and confidence that far exceeded his actual abilities. Last two years he has looked sulky and unsure of himself. Last weekend he looked like a different player.

+3 Internets | He's really not tested until he plays poorly. Dude might jump right back into his shell. Until that happens and he gets through that OK i'd still be plenty afraid of it happening. |

+58 Internets | Plus it's not like he asked to be traded, he wanted to compete for the job. They had moved forward, both parties to blame a little, but its bizarre the hate some people have. I think it's because its the Vikings and he wanted to play there. Even before the Jets trade it was pretty clear thats where he wanted to go if not in GB. They hate the Vikings, Rodgers has played well, its easy to be a douchebag for idiots. I guess I can understand it for now, I just hope they don't continue to be colossal dickwads after he hangs it up. |

| I think if Favre would have said, "This feels kind of weird and wrong in a way to be playing for the Vikings against my beloved Packers but it just happened to be the best situation at this point in my career. I will always be a Packer at heart," then there wouldn't have been much hate. He has been somewhat of a douche to the Packer fans. |

| We bawlin boi! | Favres hate is towards the management, but who gives a fuck, in the end he is there to stick it to the man by beating the team of the fans. They have every right to boo his ass. If in a decade from now, Ben kept unretiring and retiring like an asshole, then went to the Ravens, I would hope when he played us that he left the field on a cart. Favre is an asshole for pulling that crap year in and year out.

+46 Internets | I think if he had said "Sure I'll help Aaron Rogers out learning the system and acclimating to the NFL" instead of "It's not my job" and then he hadn't held them hostage for what, 2-3 offseasons with his retirement waffling, they might look back on him more fondly. They fucking *worshiped* him. He was a deity up there. It didn't just go away over night for no reason at all. Loyalty is huge and he showed he really had none. Look at Pedro Martinez, he didn't leave Boston on the best terms. He also didn't go out of his way to alienate the fans, and this week even mentioned how much he wanted to beat the Yankees just for them. He didn't do as much for that franchise as Brittfar did for the Pack, but he could walk in to any Boston bar and be loved today. Favre has been an asshole for his entire career apparently. The media just didn't start reporting on it until a bit before Rogers got drafted and it became harder to ignore. Hell of a player, hell of a competitor, top 5-10 all time great QB probably. Total douchebag. He's Barry Bonds without the steroids.

Do some googling. He finally quit BECAUSE he was told to compete. Rodgers had sat the bench and learned well, Thompson told Favre he would have to compete with Aaron for the job, and he refused. He said either he was the unquestioned starter or he walked. Since the Packers have to pay Aaron top cash for being a first rounder, AND had his contract up after the following year, they had to find out if he was worth it, and told them the job was up for grabs. Favre began another round of pseudo-retiring to the media and when the management wouldn't blink, he 'retired' then was shipped of to the Jets. | |

| That's the aspect ouf-of-staters keep missing: Yes, Favre will probably be better than Rodgers this year (obviously, part of that is O-line). But what about next year? The year after that? If GB didn't part with Favre (or at least get a firm answer from him on his plans during the offseason), then Rodgers would be gone and they'd be looking at Matt Flynn starting next year/whenever Favre gets hurt (or drafting/spending to get another QB, with no one to teach him). The situation is ugly, but look back almost two years, and you'll see me saying the same thing I am saying now: The Favre situation had to happen for the sake of the franchise, vs. the sake of the season. |

| Brilliant! | Can I ask who the fuck cares? I can say with relative certainty that three things are as close to facts as you can get on "what ifs": 1. With the state of GB's O-Line, even if Favre had stayed, he likely would have been seriously injured or definitely would have retired after '08 because of the beating he took. 2. The Jets wouldn't have been 9-7 last year without Favre. 3. Minnesota wouldn't be 7-1 this year without Favre. If GB had given him one more year then we probably wouldn't be talking about Favre right now. He would have been murdered behind that line. |
