Confederation Cup USA vs BRA 2:30pm est (Final)

Quote:
The match
USA-Brazil
Ellis Park, Johannesburg, 28 June, 20:30 (local time)

USA and Brazil may be situated on the Americas, but they are worlds apart in terms of tradition and success in the game. Futebol is deeply ingrained in life and culture in the latter, and A Seleção have won an unprecedented five FIFA World Cups™. Soccer is still an emerging sport in the US, whose men's team are yet to lift a global trophy.

Boasting the likes of Maicon, Kaka, Robinho and Luis Fabiano, it came as little surprise that Brazil inflicted a 3-0 defeat on a USA side whose biggest name, Landon Donovan, plays his club football in his homeland. Much, however, has changed in the short time since.

USA overwhelmed an on-form Egypt to snatch a place in the last four, before inflicting a first defeat in 36 games on tournament favourites Spain. Meantime, a Brazil team that had been exciting and ruthlessly effective en route to the semi-finals laboured against South Africa, squeezing through courtesy of substitute Daniel Alves's late free-kick. Consequently, Dunga and Bob Bradley foresee a very different reunion as the neutrals anticipate a thrilling conclusion to this wonderful tournament.
Anyone watching this game this evening?

The 3rd place game is going right now... SPA vs RSA (south africa) and spain is down by 1.

Edit: SPA 1 - RSA 1 game is tied at 87'

Edit: Lol Spain scores again 89'

EDIIIIIT: !!!!!!!! South africa scores and ties again 93' looks like the game is going for OT... just as all the Africans spectators were leaving hahaha

Casillas is the fucking man!

soccer

I will def be watching the game in a few hours.

The end of the Spain/RSA game was incredible. As soon as Spain scored late in the match and all the South African fans started leaving, I had a feeling RSA might score again. Too bad they lost, would have been nice for their fans.

In other news, my rec soccer team is once again abysmal Are there any board members in Columbus, Ohio who've played competitive soccer before? Lol. We've had some close matches 2-1, 3-2, etc. However, one of our games was 15-0, although it makes you wonder why players with experience at the college level and even a few with semi-pro experience are playing in the lowest level of the league? Oh well, its just rec soccer...just for fun.

WTF is going on here, I watched the first two games, didn't even bother watching the Egypt game. They somehow sneak through, and now they've outscored Brazil and Spain 4-0 in the last 120 minutes. What the hell is this?

Those horns probably will be banned from the WC or just allowed at the South Africa games Nearly all of the international commentators have said they're a pain in the ass.

On to the game though, actually seeing the U.S. play tough and attacking football has been a pleasure to watch these last two games unlike other times where they rely heavily on set pieces and just stop pushing forward. Their team defense has really stepped up since the Egypt game too.

The start of the 2nd half is gonna be nasty. I expect nothing less than brazil to be throwing the kitchen sink at howard for the first 10mins of it, its good to see the US carry over the play style/pace/attitude from the spain game because when it does it shows we can compete against and beat legit teams

And as you said that they score lol...but its to be expected the US just can't get scared and weather it for the moment at least staying a goal up.
