I don't think of LSU-UF as a great rivalry. Maybe in recent years it's begun to emerge, but when I think rivalry I think OSU-UM.. FSU-Miami etc. There's a lot of long standing ones, but you need to be competitive in them for them hold up. When one team dominates and another fades into mediocrity you tend to not care. LSU-Ole Miss used to be fantastic, on par with the greatest ones.. but it's long since been an afterthought.

You can pretty much pick any SEC team and say another SEC team is a rivalry nowadays though. UF-Tenn.. UGA-LSU, LSU-Auburn, UF-UGA etc.

LSU/Auburn has been a much better series the last 15'ish years then LSU/UF.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
1988,
Earthquake game

1994,

LSU with a 23-9 lead in the 4th threw 4 INT's in the final 12 mins, the first 3 returned for TD's...

2004,

Auburn throws a TD pass in a 9-3 game to tie the game with a little over a minute left. they had made 190 straight extra points but missed only to a have a penalty that was called ONCE in its history(was taken out of the rule books the following off season) called on LSU to give them another shot at the PAT.

2005,

Auburn kicker misses 5 FG's including one that hit the upright on the game tying attempt in OT.

2006,

With the #1 overall player at QB and 2 1st round WR's and a 3rd rounder LSU scored 3 points(thanks Jimbo!). oh and Doucet was tackled while trying to catch a pass but since an Auburn defender tipped the ball right in front of him it was waved off...

2007,

Miles/Crowton will never get the credit they deserve for the series of downs they called to win this game. QB run on 1st where Flynn basically laid down in the middle of the field to give the impression you are running out the clock. play action boot had the TE wide open and might have won it on 2nd down but an AU defender tipped the pass away. then the 3rd down call after waiting for the clock to run down for the TD.

2008,

Not quite as dramatic as last year but pretty close with the game winning TD with a minute left when it looked like we were playing for the FG again...poor auburn.

couldn't find a video of the game where the barn burned down outside the stadium during the game.

I've witnessed UM-OSU games as well as UF-UGA and seen/heard most of the SEC rivalries... Honestly, not much compares to UM-OSU... Those two schools hate each other. My UM friends(which I have few of ) will not talk to my OSU friends. They genuinely hate the other team and fans - for a long time it was blasphemy for a Michigan kid to like OSU.

If you watch the HBO documentary it puts the rivalry in perspective - two teams that were dominant for so long... Recently? Well the rivalry has been absolutely dominated by OSU so I'm not even sure its a top 5 of the last 10 years(minus the 2005 year i believe when UM/OSU were 2 and 1).

My most recent vote has to goto OU/Texas.... I can't stand the big12 but I find myself watching that game every season because it has such a huge effect on the rankings.

Also going to give a shout-out to PSU/MSU.. the trophy is amazing...a nd its a true rivalry in that it doesnt matter how good each team is - the game is a toss-up and highly dependent on home field advantage.

My biggest gripe with a lot of the rivalries is having the game hosted at a neutral field. I think it kills the atmosphere and makes it feel more like an NFL game instead of a college one. It's not the same to have the game at a neutral field away from both teams campus's and traditions. I understand the reason behind it, but think its a crime to the rivalry and college football.

If you include the toss out the records argument, then I can easily put WVU-Pitt and the Backyard Brawl since it goes back to the 1800s (ugh 2007 WVU as 28 pt favorites, way to go Rrod, you LSU boys should wash his balls for that). WVU and Pitt compete for nearly every recruit in this area only being an hour or so apart, so many of these kids from the same high schools play against one another and know one another given western PA is one of the top HQ football hotbeds in the nation.

Oh man, that 2004 call. Same thing happened in 2003 when it was Bucs vs. Colts in Tampa, Dungy's first time playing against the Bucs since getting canned (ie the year after the Bucs won the Super Bowl with his team). Peyton Manning went all Peyton Fucking Manning on the Bucs. Probably the absolute most I have ever been pissed off while watching a football game. Didn't help that it was a MNF game and I had school the next day, I woke my parents up I was yelling so much.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
On October 6, the Buccaneers hosted the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. It marked former coach Tony Dungy's return to Tampa Bay, and he was well-received by fans. During pre-game warmups, Warren Sapp stirred up controversey when he skipped through the Colts players, who were spread out over the field streching. It was Sapp's second such "skipping" incident (the first in 2002 against the Steelers), and he drew considerable crticism.

Most of the game was one-sided, as the Buccaneers entered halftime leading 21-0. With 5:09 remaining in the fourth quarter, Ronde Barber returned a Peyton Manning interception 29 yards for a touchdown, and put the Buccaneers up 35-14.

The ensuing Tampa Bay kickoff was returned 90 yards to the 11 yard line. Four plays later, with 3:37 remaining, Indianapolis scored a touchdown on a fourth down play, to narrow the lead to 35-21. Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt then attempted an onside kick, which sailed airborne and was caught by Colts safety Idrees Bashir at their own 42 yard line. It was later determined by NFL officials that the onside kick was performed illegally, since it never touched the ground, nor was touched by a Tampa Bay player. The critical error by the officiating crew led by referee Johnny Grier was overlooked, and the game continued.[1]

The Colts scored another touchdown, and narrowed the margin 35-28. Another onside kick attempt was recovered instead by Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay attempted to run the clock down to the two-minute warning, but a personal foul by Kenyatta Walker stopped the clock at 2:04 remaining. The Buccaneers were forced to punt with 1:48 to go. Manning then led the Colts on an 87-yard touchdown drive to tie the score 35-35 with 0:35 remaining. In overtime, kicker Mike Vanderjagt missed a 40-yard field goal, but umpire Ed Coukart called a penalty on Simeon Rice for leaping, a rarely seen unsportsmanlike conduct infraction for running and jumping to block a kick and landing on other players. Vanderjagt's subsequent kick was batted and hit the upright, but fell in good, winning the game for the Colts.

It was the largest comeback in NFL history (21 points) in that little amount of time (under 4 minutes to go). With the game-winning field goal, Vanderjagt went on to become the first kicker in NFL history not to miss a kick attempt in a complete season, including the playoffs.

Guess people hate Houston after the UTEP loss. The line went from Houston -3 to Houston +1.5. Takes a lot of money to move a line 3.5 points. Just wish I had waited for the move, I like UH to bounce back

Math was wrong too. that's 4.5 points of movement obviously, that's crazy

p.s. Dez Bryant, wide receiver for Oklahoma state Cowboys, ruled ineligible for NCAA bylaw violation - ESPN OUCH. WRs just can't stop being shitheads
