And ya Banal, those seem like two weird choices, but I lived in the shadow of UofM while I was going up and then moved to texas where I lived for about a decade and became a fan of them too. because I love the pain of predictability (lloyd carr=mack brown, except for vince young's final year).

I wish I could find some solid stats for you, but he rarely fumbled last year and those were while he had an injured wrist, but it really didn't matter cause every other skill player seemed to have contracted his fumblitis, sigh.

Apparently UW and WSU are considering moving the Apple Cup to Qwest Field every year because it'll make them more money. It pisses me off that money is destroying all the tradition in college football. They might as well start paying the players, since college is turning into NFL Jr. Seems pretty stupid since UW is trying to get city money to help remodel Husky Stadium, but then they're going to move the stadium's biggest game/draw to Qwest permanently?

I am counting down the days until Alabama plays Virginia Tech in Atlanta. Alabama will probably have as good a front seven on defense as any team in the country - and while we will miss Rashad Johnson, I think we'll see improvement on the corners.

Biggest concerns are offensive line and QB - Julio is a beast and our tailbacks should be stout, but if you don't have the time/ability to get him the ball, or open holes for our running backs, it's irrelevant. The Hokies will be anxious to prove they aren't going to be pushed around like Clemson was last year.

Liquid is going to implode when he sees that pic.

On topic: Our new senior starting QB for '09' looks like Ricky Henderson on roids. (good call adam12 on the ricky reference)

I'm scared to play you guys next year. Whoever it is, we are going to have a new QB making one of their first road starts of the year going to Baton Rouge. Talk about something you do not want for a new QB getting their feet wet.

I'm definitely planning on making the trip down though from Atlanta, hopefully I dont get deep fried by some drunk Cajun.

I watched the A-day game. Robbie Green was excellent and Maze had a great game. The 1st team O line was quite good, while the 2nd team was awful. It could come down to injury luck there. The running game was impossible to evaluate as the top 3 backs for the fall did not play (assuming Richardson will be at least 3rd string).

Coach Carroll said of the decision:

"We have to name a starter for the spring game and Corp is in the lead at this point. We're going to carry the competition on through Fall Camp. Matt (Barkley) had a great spring and was right there pushing for the job, but he just hasn't had enough time to learn everything. But on the field, he played like a starter."

Matt Barkley is the backup quarterback and Mitch Mustain is third on the depth chart.
USC, where 5 star qb prospects compete to be third string!

It is terribly sad that Mustain can't even beat out a 18 yr old kid who's been in the system for about 4 months, haha.

Mitch Mustain is pretty much the poster child for---> Not what you want to do in recruiting. Kid has been a bust/nightmare everywhere he went, now he will be lucky to ever even get drafted. Maybe Cassels success will get someone to take him in a late round who knows, but its funny all the hype this kid had and now look at him.

Shouldn't have hotlinked that image, oh well....anyways...

Here's some really interesting info I thought people might like to take a look at. Puts it into perspective how some schools like mine are playing with one arm tied behind our backs trying to make it to the bigtime level in college football. Must be nice to be fucking Texas and USC with all that homegrown talent. Mack Brown has the easiest job in football.

Texas congressman says BCS like communism, can't be fixed - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com Live Scores, Standings, Stats

Quote:
A congressman who wants to see college football adopt a playoff system is comparing the Bowl Championship Series to communism.

Republican Rep. Joe Barton of Texas said Friday that efforts to tinker with the BCS are bound to fail. He told a House hearing that the BCS is like communism and can't be fixed.

Barton has introduced legislation that would prevent the NCAA from labeling a game a national championship unless it's the outcome of a playoff system.
This is the only way to get College Football to adopt a playoff system so that the smaller schools get a fair shake to get to the championship game and the money that it brings. I don't think this goes far enough, but it's a start.
