Edit: Seriously, what are they giving all the props to Pac for? I know he's a great fighter but like the commentators said Oscar didn't even show up. He didn't move his head, he was flat footed 99% of the time, he had no plan to try and pen Pac in the corner. He just showed up, got beaten up, quit, and collected his purse.

+4 Internets | So I get negative internets because I come off as an MMA mouthbreathing retard. Someone explain to me how, in a fight billed as the fight of the year and one of the biggest of the last decade, one guy can just completely not show up and it's unfair for me to criticize? De La Hoya did NOTHING the entire fight. NOTHING. I want to like boxing. But it is a fight sport, and tonight only one person actually wanted to fight. If you are getting paid as much as these guys are getting paid you owe it to the fans to go out there and at least give it your best shot. That did not happen. Then after the fight the announcers have the gall to pretend that DLH is just old and washed up. Maybe he is but there are plenty of boxers older and with more scars than he has who actually show up when the bell rings. That was a disgrace.

| Oscar is shot. You could see it building up in the last few fights. He just can't throw punches anymore. Really disappointing fight on Oscar's side. It didn't look like he came to fight at all. But, Pacquaio put on a hell of a performance. I REALLY hope he doesn't go down in weight because there are so many good fights at 147. Seeing his speed and power tonight, I think he could give anyone at 147 a run for their money. Pacman deserves all the props in the world. He completely threw Oscar off his game, he even admitted it. They (and nearly everyone) planned on Pacquaio coming straight forward and lunging in as usual. But instead he came in throwing combinations, hopped back, and moved. Oscar couldn't do anything. As far as boxing sucking...yes this fight sucked. But I don't think any MMA fight, EVER, can compare to some of the better boxing matches. Go watch Castillo vs Corales 1 and tell me anything in MMA compares. MMA usually ends up with people wrestling on the ground, which is just not exciting at all, I'm sorry. | I think he showed up and was just completely outclassed. DLH didn't need the money. He has made 100s of millions off boxing and makes a ton promoting other fights. So I don't think he would risk his career, his legacy and his health for a paycheck which isn't even a drop in his golden bucket. He came out and got owned and just couldn't stop it. Mostly due to being old and slow.. and he actually looked scared after the first couple of rounds.

+4 Internets | How can any professional boxer "show up" and look as terrible as DLH did from the very beginning? Even the biased HBO announcers commented on how he was completely flatfooted and that he wasn't moving his head. What exactly was the plan he was trying to implement other than "Stand here, get punched in the head, collect paycheck"?

| If DLH had heart, he could have caused Pacquiao some serious damage with counter punches. Unfortunately DLH was out classed, couldn't pull the trigger and the fight was over from the first round. Glad I didn't pay for it. Hatton Pacquiao will be interesting, if it happens, because Hatton is a brawler who doesn't stop and Pacquiao is equally relentless. That fight would be much more interesting than what we all just witnessed.. |

+67 Internets | Well, I was wrong about it going to decision. And right about everything else=P 195 to 51 on Power punches in Pacquiao's favor. Oof. 224 to 83 total. Just goes to show, the key to being great is having your dad eat your dog.

| Just like his other big fights. Jab, flurry, left hook, left hook, left hook ad nauseum. I never understood why people were such huge fans of De La Hoya. /shrug Having the media love you does not make you a great fighter.

| Was going to try to get my friends here on base who are really into MMA to watch this fight with me, but I'm glad I didn't. I would have felt pretty embarrassed. This fight was bad for boxing. And honestly, I think Oscar should use his $20million in guaranteed cash for this fight to refund anyone who wants it. It was such an incredible let down for such a 'big' fight. |
