I think Miami will beat the Jets week 1, for the upset of the week:

1. It's a new system for Favre, he's a little older and his conditioning probably isn't going to prepare him for the first game.

2. Sparano has been working the 'phins practice the way Parcells did; grueling two a days in the south Florida heat. It will be 90 degrees with a 85% humidity index, and there isn't much wind in Dolphins stadium.

3. Kris Jenkins(Jets Nose tackle) has always played in a 4-3. This is his first year at Nose tackle in a 3-4.

4. Miami's 1st team defense in preseason gave up 2.4 yards per carry and 0 TD's, while the Jets 1st team gave up 6.0 yards per carry and 2 TD's. It's only preseason so this one doesn't really count, but it is worth noting...just in case!

It's a young team so 6-10 seems about right; the thing is, they will beat someone like the Jets one week, then inexplicably lose to the Falcons the next.

Cowboys got back Keith Davis after he was released from Miami (and after Miami gave him a $3.3m contract for 2 years). This is a good thing because he's a Special Teams stud and immediately shores up the weakest part of the Cowboys' game. It'll be interesting in this first game of the year because the Cowboys are without their #3 (Hurd) and #4 (Austin) WRs and the #5 (Stanback) is playing with a shoulder injury. But this is one of the reasons the Cowboys picked up Felix Jones so I wouldn't be surprised to find them going with a 2-back set and then motion Felix out into the slot.

Should be one hell of a game.

Football gods, who art in heaven, please help Vince Young throw the forward pass, so that our defense does not become angry, and Smite him, and Albert Haynesworth does not lose his temper and stomp on his head after our 9th consecutive red zone failure. Also please strike the Tom Brady with some sort of plague, preferably of the itching, genetalia effecting variety.
