So... imagine that the IOC goes after the chinese gymnastic federation, that is responsible for enlisting eligible athletes, and ask them what's up. The chinese gymnastic federation can show that it checked all the IDs of the athletes and that their official documents put them all above 16. Now what? The IOC goes after whatever chinese ministry delivers IDs and ask them what's up? Yeah right....

oh man, not this debate again.
A younger age is an advantage when it comes to gymnastics, you are more agile, more flexible, lighter etc....
so yes, when you are 14 you have a 2 year advantage over a 16+ year old.
Also, let's not forget that there are rules in place for a reason, min age 16, not 14.

That really depends on the event. In something like uneven bars I would think two extra years of growth (muscle strength) would help a shit ton.

I find these arguments to be whiny bullshit. So I guess 5 year old infants make the best gymnasts, huh? If you're younger you're also not as strong, bones aren't as developed, have less experience, etc.... The proper response to getting your ass handed to you by underage kids is to shut your mouth and walk away embarassed.

This is the only real reason for disqualification, because it's against the rules. In any game if you break the rules you're out, or else the game has no merit.
