+25 Internets | Anyone else watching the confed cup? Obvious spain v nz was a complete mismatch, but I think 5-0 is actually pretty decent for the kiwis. Egypt was pretty hard done by, deserved to get a point after their come back. iraq v south africa was pretty boring. usa had their chance, but beaten by class in the end. of course you could argue that the italians were outscored by the americans 3 goals to 1.... tonight I'm off to the MCG to watch socceroos play japan! dead rubber since we've both qualified, and many star players being rested, but still excited to go! |

| I watched the US game yesterday. Bullshit red card. US deserved their first half lead and couldn't play well on the counter after going down a man. The Italy goals were all quality though. Pirlo was fantastic setting up the last one. |

| Really we should have been up 3-0 at half. Poor finishing is killing us. Altidore and Bradley both should have had goals in that first half. Overall tho I'm happy with how the squad has been coming along, both of the 2 I mentioned are young yet and with more games in and confidence they'll only get better, we really looked good there cept for the finishing. |

| so drogba is banned from europe for 4 games with possibility of 2 more and bosingwa was given 3 matches with a 4th being possible.... ok i can see drogba getting his but all bosingwa did was speak in a press conference "not sure if he was a ref or theif..." Terry and Hiddink said pretty much the samething and didn't get anything |

| No one is really matching up well with Spain right now. I'm hoping for the best, but a Brazil-Spain final sure would be entertaining at this point. As long as we can keep it competitive and stay in it for the full 90 like we did last summer, I'll be happy. Beating Egypt in Africa so decesively, even if they were missing a few key players is definitely a confidence booster going into 2010.

| Yay for Pearce's team finally getting past a semi final stage today! 3-0 up at half time and then let 3 in to take it to extra time, then a man sent off but they clung on to go to penalties and came through 5-4. Italy or Germany awaits in the final but three players are suspended for it including the super goalie. They had lost five times at this stage including a heart breaking 13-12 penalties loss against the Dutch 2 years ago. I'm very happy for Pearce, he never got past an international semifinal as a player and lost the above mentioned game as a manager. Hope he can bring home the trophy! Always been a Pearce fan from being a Nottingham Forest fan since the mid 70s, never has a player in my lifetime shown what it means to play with commitment and passion. The reaction to his penalty against the Spanish in '96 would have been my pick in the memorable sporting moments thread but I presumed it would have been out of place amongst all the yankee sports ![]()

| Manchester City make 'stratospheric' offer to Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o - Telegraph Well... if we sign Eto'o and Tevez next week I might have to change my underpants. Robinho - Eto'o - Tevez front line... if we sort out the defence a bit we should give the Top 4 a run for their cushy places. |
