You're supposed to, the points aren't in the bag yet!

Seriously though, two soft fouls and Adebayor is sent off?? We'd have so won that game if we had Fabregas and Ade on the pitch. Thoroughly disappointed but just like Wenger I'm not ready to concede winning the EPL.

And a little CL action. These ties are mouth-watering. Chelsea v Juve! Arsenal v Roma! Manure v Inter! Liverpool v Real! I'm only listing the English ties since this is the...English thread(not that there's any other football thread in here anyway lol).

Gotta love the subplots.
Chelsea v Juve: Return of Ranieri;
Liverpool v Real: Benitez v Ramos, battle of the spaniards; Benitez returns to Madrid; Dudek former 1st team keeper for Liverpool;
Arsenal v Roma: Uhhhhhh...nothing! We played them once before and won. Meh
Man Utd v Inter: SAF v Mourinho, wooo they get to reignite the rivalry; top player on current form and the top player from last year trying to give their team a win aka Ibra and C.Ron; this is like a Portuguese winger convention...Figo, Ronaldo, Nani, Quaresma.

Anyone here listen to World Soccer Daily? It's on Sirius from 1-3pm EST or you can just download the podcast. Steven from Fox Football Fone-in is one of the hosts of the radio show. I'm asking since I was wondering if anyone here calls in. I'd like to call in sometime but being international and thus on hold might suck. I actually was all set to call in when Trinidad beat USA(woo woo) but work got in the way! Anyway great podcast.

christ close game

Thought Everton had it obvious offsides and felt bad for Cezc's hand.

Great result and just what Liverpool needed.

2 pretty dominate games by liverpool against Bolton and Newcastle. Especially good given the team changes made. Chelsea dropping points was just icing on the cake. 3 points clear with 18 games to go, is a good start but plenty of time. I think we can win 12 or 13 of them, but remains to be seen whether that will be enough to win it.

I agree and I am crossing fingers. Chelsea is just drawing (not losing) so they are right behind.

3 teams with 25 points and all tied for 3rd is so crazy.

It's 35 points and it's not crazy. Manchester United is down three games played comparative to Liverpool and Chelsea. They play Middlesbrough next and the two extra games are Wigan and Fulham, so they can be expected to pick up 7-9 points, putting them about 3-5 points behind Liverpool and possibly tied with Chelsea. Also, Aston Villa is also down a game, so they are likely not tied with Arsenal either as they should beat Hull City or at least draw.

So the real match that Liverpool will probably occur next week with the Chelsea-ManU game provided a draw occurs and Liverpool beats Stoke City (likely).

Meant 35 for all 3 and that was written before ManU went up to 38.

The point was in comparison to recent EPL December seasons spread out thus making this one ala Crazy "exciting" "not dull or trite".

So- Gerrard arrested, Abromovic needs to choose between selling a yacht or Chelsea to cover the credit crisis, The Player Of The Year really just sucks and Arsenal could well be on their way out of the top 4! Lovely season.

Yes, I understood you and my point was it is dull. Manchester United are very much in play for first, they are just multiple games played behind the other top teams so you cannot take their points at face value. What it amounts to is a two way fight for fourth between Aston Villa and Arsenal; which is not exciting unless you are an Aston Villa fan.

bye bye wayne bridge to man city (and happy new years to the lot of ya) guess we are stuck with a. cole on the left side now only.

props to gerrard on beating someone and possibliy (re highly doubtful) of getting 5yrs

2nd half of the season should be good especially with all the wonderful CL draws in round of 16 may not be an england's year in the CL again (ie 3/4 of the semis and both in the final) like everyone predicted
