| That was just insane! Turkey coming back from 0-2 and winning 3-2! And with the turkish keeper being sent off with a couple of minutes left? I couldn't sit still, it was that exciting! Completely insane match!

| that has been the match of the tourney right there not sure it can be beaten. all i want to know is why didn't the CR just shove everything into the box when the turkey keeper went off. i mean you've got a large defender in goal but they had the perfect time to tie it back up at 3 with the way things had just happened. |

This is since an incident at the World Cup 1982, where the last games weren't played simultaneously yet. Due to Algeria winning their 3rd game against Chile the day before, West Germany needed a victory against Austria to qualify for the next round (Austria was already sure to qualify). There was a certain 'lack of effort' by the Austrians (geographical neighbours of West Germany and also german speaking), and West Germany won that game with 1-0. AFAIK there were no official sanctions taken, since there was no proof there was any collusion, but it was pretty obvious during the game that Austria lost on purpose. The next major tournament (Euro '84), last round games were played at the same moment though. As for Turkey vs Czechia tonight, goddamnit I was rooting for the Czechs, but this shows again what makes football such a passionate game. Grats Turkey. I'm feeling the pain of the Czechs though. | |

+11 Internets | This is almost a Pyrrhic victory for Turkey since, without Volkan as goalkeeper, their chances to beat Croatia are cut in half.

+30 Internets | Awesome game for Turkey and an awesome game for Switzerland. We've never before won a game in the Euro end-round, in fact we've never scored more than once in the 3 group games before. Lots of "firsts" this time and I think the team always put up a good fight. I liked how our coach let the secondary keeper (Zuberbuehler) play. He was the main keeper for a long time and is retiring from the national team after the Euro, along with the coach. Good times, let's hope we can put up a better fight at the World Cup 2010. (Actually, let's first hope we qualify )Now I have to hope that Sweden ends up #2 in their group. That'd lead to Netherlands vs Sweden in my city - what a game that's going to be. They've both got great fans and it'd be exciting to have them both here. |

+17 Internets | Swiss and Turkey made it easily the best day of the cup so far. Going to be tough to beat.

| Only the games that the Dutch have been involved with are even comparable to this one. I think despite not having their first choice keeper if Turkey shows this kind of passion and commitment against the Croats they just might overcome. Czech's back four were abominable and I hope Cech doesn't beat himself up for the 2nd goal for too long - the ball was wet and slippery and all. I still consider him to be the world's best keeper.
