what conferences WANT a playoff? only the non bcs ones. none of the bcs conference commishs want a playoff. it's not just the big10 and pac10. sec, big east, and big12 don't wanna share that pie either. the other conferences don't publicly state for or against if you notice..they just hide behind the vocal big/pac10.

The main ones who don't are the ones with the Rose Bowl tie-ins since it generates so much money. The reason they don't want a playoff is because there is a chance they aren't in the top 4 and that would keep them from getting a guaranteed BCS bowl + 10mil payout.

EVERYONE wants a playoff except the greedy suits who can barely watch a game, much less understand the market its in.

A +1 is a playoff. Top 4 seeds play and the two winners play for the title. No it's not a deep one but it's 100x better than the shit we have.. and I say this as an LSU fan who very easily could have NOT won 2 BCS titles in this system.

Even if, as has been pointed out twice, the SEC commissioner hadn't proposed it, those fans cries reflect revenue denied to the SEC by the BCS selections. Just like the SEC lost money when Auburn didn't play in the NC. Plus, they know that the fans would go apeshit for it and the ratings would be insane, meaning higher TV revenues.

I mean why should the Big 10 get off the Rose Bowl teat when they are virtually guaranteed a higher pay out each year. This way they get to have their cake and eat it too. The lack of conference championship game keeps the the Big 10 #2 artifically inflated vs. championship conference #2's. If they are fortunate enough to get a team in the NC, like OSU, the Rose Bowl just takes the #2 and the Big 10 wins again, to the detriment of fans everywhere. (Illinois v USC. Really?) In any case, they're guaranteed at least 1 spot like the other big conferences, except with a better pay out. All this goes away for the Big 10 if the system gets fucked with.

Why should they give that up to play a 4 game playoff they can't reasonably get 2 teams in. Why should they compete for a spot, when they don't have to now. I know: the fans.
