| Post count elitism? Are you fucking kidding me? All of that football knowledge, and you won't even approach my "strawman" (lol, you are clearly using a word far too large for your tiny brain, but I'll let it slide) arguments with facts of your own. Instead, you fall back on the waterloo of internet forum douchebags. My 2nd post on this msg board was in the college football thread. More forum elitism, but this time you can't even get your facts straight. You are so fucking embarrasing, I'm seriously considering deleting this verbal beatdown to save you some face. I'll make you a deal. Go back, try to relearn all of that college football knowledge you forgot. Then you can come back, and we'll try to have a real conversation about the sport. I won't even hold it against you.

+1 Internets | Guys, guys, we can stop this senseless arguing over conference superiority now. Read Pac-10 Football Is Better Than SEC Football: Part One | Bleacher Report and it will all become clear. Edit: There are three parts so far. Part Two: Pac-10 Football Is Better Than SEC Football: Part Two | Bleacher Report Part Three: Pac-10 Football Is Better Than SEC Football: Part Three | Bleacher Report It's funny reading all the comments from butthurt SEC fans, they are getting massively trolled and don't realize it. | It's going to be a down year for the SEC all around. I know some places are high on UGA and UF but I just don't see it. Teams like Auburn, Tenn, 'Bama and LSU won't be in title contention imo yet they will still be able to pin a few losses on the couple of teams making a run. I think the winner of USC-Ohio is a lock for the NC game. Big 12 is also pretty strong. If a Missouri or Texas comes out with only 1 loss then they should be right there.

| We bawlin boi! | The SEC is gonna be weird, I dont know Im not really sold on Stafford, Tebow was hurt badly last year in that game. The problem with running QBs like PW and Tebow is that it takes a toll, UF desperately needs a running game. Regime, didnt UF get a RB transfer from USC who was supposed to be really good? I'm sure you guys remember me saying it early last year, a fullback running QB like Tebow just wont hold up an entire season--him being hurt cost them vs UGA. CFB is becoming a lot like the pros now, if you have no backup you are fucked. See LSU last year, the problem child really saved them vs Tennesssee for the SEC ccg, if they had some scrub it might have turned out differently. Same with Noel Devine for us in the Fiesta bowl. Its almost more important to land the solid 3-4 stars who are great backups than it is to grab that one huge kid out of high school and have a mediocre class. I'll be interested to see Bama this year, Star Jackson and Julio Jones and the rest of their #1 recruiting class should really, really bolster that team and maybe push them over the hump. Then again, its so fucking hard to tell who pans out anymore. Look at Xavier Lee, FSUs messiah QB who was going to save the program--complete bust in the college game. And I'm done with the troll, no more feeding from me I promise. ;p

+18 Internets | I was thinking about the Big East for this year and I'm not sure what to make of it. Uconn is mostly intact, but while they had a good run last year, they were rarely dominant. Still a decent team that can shape things up. WVU looks to be in pretty good shape despite having to replace Slaton, Schmitt, and they're two d-line guys. WVU has pretty firmly established itself as a perennial threat. UC looks to be in pretty good shape as well. They lost their QB, but they aren't exactly lacking in replacements with Grutza, who performed pretty damn well when Mauk was hurt, freshman Anderson, and ND cast off Jones. The secondary seems to be the biggest question mark. USF returns almost their entire offense, which is potent. No reason to think they won't be a good team this year. Pitt has a decent amount of preseason buzz, but I'm not convinced that they will actually be that much of a threat. So, just looking at where the teams were last year and where they are this year it seems like the Big East should have another strong year, but I'm not sure if we'll see anyone outside of WVU make a serious run at a BCS game though, but I hope they do. Big East football is pretty exciting to watch...it's sort of like mid-majors with better talent. What's your take Genjiro, who I think is the only regular poster here that follows the Big East with any depth? |

| We bawlin boi! | WVU should be good again this year, at least the offense anyways. Our only concern on offense is at WR, but by all accounts the recently moved backup QB Bradley Starks (who was hs player of the year in VA, runs a 4.4 etc) should be very good there--supposedly destroyed the defense on his own in the spring game. Offense should be among tops in the nation, returning 2 all american lineman and of course Pat and Noel. Our new OC from Wake that ran that dynamic motion offense is installing it into the spread, which will add even more wrinkles to that offense....and should be fun to watch. The defense is the big question mark, most notably the secondary...the season all hinges on how well the new guys play who replaced the 9 lost starters from last years D. Pat Lazear should make a big name for himself this year, OSU fans who follow recruitng will know this kid. You guys were after him bigtime, some thought he was the best LB in the country a couple years ago but he got into trouble, and Tressel and Paterno dropped him quick--which was lucky for us since hes cleaned his act up and gave Pat White hell in the spring game (intercepted him and was all over him). I'd be surprised if the front 7 arent outstanding, but its our secondary that worries me, especially in the odd stack 3-3-5 which relies on the bandit and spur safeties to really know their shit back there. UConn has most of their team back and so should be back where they were Edsal really is a good coach. Tyler Loreznen is a pretty good QB, but they still need a few more years of recruiting under their belts. Cincinatti is really a team that could surprise some people. They got Demetrius Jones (late edit: thanks to ToT, its in fact not Tavarius Jackson), the transfer from Notre Dame, so he will be there to QB even though Mauk lost his appeal for another season due to his horrific arm injury (NCAA denied him 1 more year). Like UConn though, they have been more of a basketball school in recent years and need the support from the AD. This year though they should be good, they also got some good recruits. Sad thing for Bearcat fans though, Brian Kelly is a great coach and I wouldn't count on him staying too long. Syracuse, well, Greg Robinsons head is gonna be on a platter this year. Hard to be believe they used to be a powerhouse. Things have really slipped sinece Pasquiloni left up at SU. USF should be really good again, they have the tools, but they did lose both of their CBs who were among the best in the country. Not sure why so many were suprised from their success last year, a lot of people saw it coming. Phil Steele, widely regarded as the best as far as CFB info goes last year said they were his sleeper and people would be shocked--even said they could compete in the top 10. People said he was crazy, but fuck they should be good. People dont realize this when thinking of USF. Its now the 4th football college in the state of Florida, which probably cranks out more top notch talent than anyone. After Miami, Florida, and FSU are done cherry picking the best of Florida, there are still TONS of great hs fb players down there. USF has slowly been capitalizing on this. This year with Selvie on defense and a talented offense, they should be pretty good again. Rutgers, I'm not so sure how they will do in the post Ray Rice era, at least for this year. Teal is going to have the entire load on his shoulders, but watch out for Rutgers in the next couple of seasons. Their 09 recruiting class for next year is already a top 10 in the nation class, I think Scout or Rivals, forget which, has them as the tenth best class for next year and we are only in July. Schiano is reaping in the NY/NJ players, but its a problem among Big East schools that their good coaches end up getting lured to bigger schools with lots, lots more money. I guarantee you with his tutelage under Paterno that he takes that job at Penn State the second it becomes available, regardless of what he keeps telling people. The weird thing is hes a bit fucking looney, apparently hes telling recruits he has a plan that God gave him for the football team, no joke (a recruit said this in his interview), and kids are buying into it. Pitt, well Im not sure why Pitt was such a surprise either, they are bipolar and do great one week and then lose to Navy the next. That team is loaded with talent though, yet they did lose their top deep threat to grades I think this offseason, but they have so much depth it shouldnt matter. Aside from Wannstadt usually being a horrible coach so far at Pitt (aside from that WVU game), they have got to be the biggest underachieving football team in the country--much to the enjoyment of the WVU faithful. Hes an ex NFL coach with tons of NFL ties, at a University in a big city (relatively, since most colleges are not), and they play their games at Heinz fucking field with the Steelers and get to use their facilities. Hes had a top 5-15 class every fucking year hes been at Pitt and they have failed miserably year in and year out. Eventually they will get so much talent they will win despite him. I dont know, maybe last year was the turning point, and I do have to say that Pitt has had a ton of bad luck with injuries (starting QB out for the year last year before the 1st game etc). Louisville, god only knows. They've had so many fucking players in trouble (another one just got arrested), I have no idea who is even left. Kragthorpe inherited a mess after Petrino left, and who knows whats going to happen with this team. I really dont know shit about Louisville other than they were trying to recruit Pat Whites little brother Coley from us this year. For those who dont know, Coley White, Pats little bro...is now a freshman at WVU redshirting and looks identical to Pat on tape. Yea, thats about my extent of knowledge on them. I still see us being the best team in the conference, but Pitt is bound to step up this year. Lesean McCoy is incredible at tailback, and their defense will be outstanding again--they got all 33 (Pennsylvanias best 33) LB Shane Hale who should be an absolute beast (chose Pitt over us, sigh) and Cameron Saddler this year was another 5 star pickup at RB you could see a lot of with McCoy and working in the slot some probably too just go get him the ball since hes an amazing athlete. WVU has a superback in Terence Kerns (who is a prototype NFL back--track star, runs a 4.33 and get this, is almost 240), but was at prep school at Hargrave to try and get in on the adjusted gpa slider since his grades sucked out of high school. Hargrave scrimmaged Tennessees freshman team and Kerns had 4 rushes for like 90 yards. He has some kind of learning disability though which might ultimately keep him off the field and ineligible to play for us, but we should know something this week. Anyways, why is this important? If Devine gets hurt (*knocks on wood) we are fucked with a capital F, and our next back is like 15 pounds lighter than Devine which is ugh. Tl;dr version WVU will be very good, Cincy USF and UConn should be good as well, Rutgers not so sure..Pitt who the fuck knows. Louisvilles entire team might be in prison by the time the season starts.

+18 Internets | Well, that was pretty much my take on it, if I would have taken time to type that much. I'm not sure how much of a surprise Cincy will actually be though, I mean they did finish ranked 17th last year...which I guess might be surprising to some people. While it does seem certain that Cincy will loose Kelly, at least we seem to be establishing ourselves as a transition school for hot up and coming coaches. edit: heh, I wish UC had Tavarius Jackson...he may not be a very good NFL quarterback right now, but I'm sure he could light things up in college now. | We bawlin boi! | Ah lol, I guess in my head I got him and Demetrius Jones mixed up, well I got the -ius part right so I get partial credit. But yea the reason I said they might surprise people is a lot of people figured without Mauk they wouldnt be much. Demetrius Jones is pretty athletic and fits that same kind of offense, they also got a freshman receiver that can flat out fly, forget his name too though. Maybe JD or DJ Woods, he runs a legit 4.3, had offers from WVU, Nebraska, Michigan etc, ended up staying at home at Cincinatti. He had verbaled with us till RR left, then decided best not to take chances so stayed close to home.

| We bawlin boi! | By the way, how do you OSU guys think Pryor is going to be used, aka Troy Smith? Or do you think they will try and create specific plays to get him in space more, like we do with Pat White. I'm really, really excited to see him play....because I don't know if any of you watched the Army All-American game, but he made everyone else on that field (the best in hs) look like kids playing with an adult. He's got a smoothness and awareness in the pocket that you can't help but notice, good QBs all have it, that sense of whats going on behind them. So glad he chose OSU over Michigan . His passing game needs work, but mechanics can be fine tuned.

+18 Internets | I think it'll probably be pretty close to Troy Smith. At first they will probably have a good amount of designed plays to get him at in space and then as he develops as a passer he'll drop back more and more and use his athleticism for when plays break down. Tressel has said they will use him like Tebow, but I'm not sure how they use him will be all that similar. I mean with all the talk about SEC speed or whatever else, OSU's line isn't designed for that type of spread play. OSU always pulls in some of the best O-line talent in the country, but they are usually enormous guys that suit the 3 yards and a cloud of dust mentality (and fit in well in the NFL), which has come to characterize the Big 10. So, that being said they really aren't in position to do a lot of the things that Tebow did at Florida. I'm sure there will be some gimmicky stuff with him, but I think they will emphasize the pocket passing game as he develops, which is the best thing for his future NFL career too. I expect there will be some growing pains in 2010 as he assumes the full time starter role, but I think 2011 and 2012 should be fun to watch. I'm excited. |

Here's a fun quote from an obviously unbiased source! Quote:
Fastest player in the nation (Jeff Demps, faster than Trindon Holiday even). The article is totally silly, but it's a fun read if you aren't a pure unbridled troll. For a fun arguing point for the haters, it glazes over the fact that some of those players haven't started a single game yet. =P | ||

| We bawlin boi! | Yea, as much as I like Tebow for his gritty play, I don't know if he is just overhyped or is that good yet, despite the Heisman trophy. This year will tell, I even thought it last year until someone I was arguing with changed my mind. They told me to look up his stats in all of Floridas big games, which happened to be losses in every one. He racked up yards and touchdowns like crazy against some Division II teams, but struggled big time against LSU, Michigan, Auburn, and ofc Georgia he was hurt so he gets a pass in that one. He's definitely a great player, but given Florida has 4 and 5 star players at about every position on the field, its sure as hell not lack of talent. Maybe the lack of a running game, maybe the defense, but I'm retracting my Tebow mancrush to see how he does in big time games this year with a good tailback. No hate for Florida, but, great players rise up to great challenges....and Chad Henne was the best football player on the field on on that particular day.
