hehe, they had to hype up that Phil was using the triangle in Chicago to make it look like he was doing something there. I still stay Doug Collins got a raw deal in Chicago.

Bill Simmons needs to get hired to run a sports so we can get some good articles written about that. I'm convinced Doc Rivers was reading his stuff during the playoffs.

I'm totally convinced Phil did nothing during the last 3 rings he got in Chicago and in LA. The first 3 Bulls teams weren't that stacked with talent (they just had a perfect roster filled with role players that all had very well defined roles), but the 96-98 teams and those Laker teams were just fucking stacked with talent from front to back. There wasn't a single weak link in the Bulls teams from 96-98. My dad is a huge Jazz fan so I saw plenty of their games, that team was loaded. Bryan Russell, Karl Malone, Stockton, Hornacek, Ostertag before he got useless. That's a really great starting 5. Granted they were getting on in age, but so were the Bulls. Experience and veteran leadership definitely dwarfed over the young talent in the late 90s though.

Anyone that argues that the 96-98 Bulls weren't virtually unbeatable is an idiot. Especially with as down as the league was (it was in a transition period where the younger guns hadn't quite risen yet due to the high schoolers and the college kids weren't panning out well. The league had a ton of aging veterans and a shitload of really bad teams.

The Laker teams had their chemistry issues (way too many egos and volatile personalities and no one to control them), so I can give him a ton of credit for being a team psychiatrist, but other than that I mean, he really didn't need to do too much for that team.

For what? I mean, his teams were pretty fucking stacked. Anytime he hasn't had a totally stacked team he hasn't won a title. So I'm a retard for questioning that a guy who always had the best talent fall to him, and a guy who's never been known as an X's and O's guy may not be as great as everyone says he is? Seems pretty logical..and I'm sober for once.

Is this national call me stupid and don't actually make a fucking argument month? I'm convinced there are no real NBA fans on this boards as opposed to SAS. Everyone just calls everyone else stupid and doesn't fucking bother to actually create a counter argument. It's pathetic. I'm done with NBA threads on this boards. I'd rather argue with someone over whether or not Phil Jackson is woefully overrated as opposed to having someone say "ZOMG YOU'RE DUMB BUT I'M NOT ACTUALLY GOING TO COUNTER YOUR ARGUMENT IM JUST GONNA SAY YOURE DUMB!"

I'd rather see someone say that Phil Jackson was the greatest coach in the history of pro sports (not even remotely a feasible argument, but at least it's something) as opposed to just people calling each other stupid and not actually making a point. I guess it's a gaming board for a reason. Give me all the minus internets you want. I really don't care anymore.

You do care because you took it off your public profile.

Ok, I'll bite. Granted it was a number of years ago so I don't remember tons about rosters or what other competitive teams were out there at the time, but just for the sake of a counter argument, Del Harris and Kurt Rambis in his brief stint as head coach both had the Kobe/Shaq combo working under them and couldn't do shit. Was it because Kobe was still too young? Hard to say imo, but I still find it interesting that Jackson comes in and immediately pulls in a championship.

Nah. I hit the wrong button. But it further proves my point that people don't give two shits or know anything about Basketball around here. Rather than counter my point that no one makes any fucking arguments, you comment about the stupidest thing on these boards (reputation).

Have fun thinking Lamar Odom is more valuable as a player as opposed to a trade commodity.

He's a valuable player, but i dont think he fits with the Lakers...
Too soft for a PF, cant shoot like a SF.
I see him doing wonders with really offensive PF that spreads the floor (Barkley/Malone).
Odom, like Bryant need room, but they dont create any...

As for the bulls, lets see who they defeated :
-> Magic Era Lakers
-> Dumars Era Pistons
-> Best Suns ever
-> Best Jazz ever
-> Good Knicks/Pacers

Maybe the NBA wasnt as strong, but Jordan/Pipen = batshit insane duo.
I wont even mention the on the road wins in finals...
Or the amazing roleplayers Kerr & Hodges = best 3P shooters, Harper = 20+PPG before the bulls.

For me the 96 bulls can take on anyone, and i mean anyone.
Whats even most amazing, they dominated the NBA without a real PG (stockton, kidd, nash) or Center (Ewing,Robinson, Olajuwon).

As for Phil Jackson, i think he's a much better "leader/psychologist" than a technical coach.

I still think the 80s great Celtics and Lakers teams would have beaten the Bulls, being better all around teams. But that's arguable, and a lot would agree with you. Really, it was Rodman that put that team in the stratosphere, he was in my mind the best pound for pound rebounder in NBA history. I've *never* seen anyone else actually physically move Shaqs ass out of the paint and box him out during Shaqs prime, and Rodman did it at like 240 or whatever playing weight he had. His lower body strength was literally unreal for someone his size, and he studied the tendencies of all the leagues shooters, esp Pippen and Jordan when he joined the Bulls by watching tons and tons of tape and just watching them for hours in shootarounds. He had a dedication to rebounding that was impressive to say the least.

I'll also agree about Jackson, he was a better motivator/psychiatrist than actual X's and O's coach. Jordan was the field general on the court and called a lot of the plays he wanted, and was notorious for it, especially getting angry when things weren't going well. Then again a lot of the greats did that, including Bird.

And you do? The validity of your comments takes a shit every time you post. You're questioning the ability of a coach who owns 9 fucking championships.

How many rings did those squads win without Phil? Absolutely 0.

I'm not trying to discredit the skill of MJ, he's the greatest to play the game however Phil put him in the position to become legendary.
