I live in Dallas.
I am a huge Wings fan.
This is my present to my fellow citizens of the Metroplex.

The stars looked like they had a shot in that game after their first goal. They absolutely worked detroit over that shift.

It was dallas' best game of the series and the good guys still won.

Pittsburgh still dominating, but I dont know if they are up to Detroits quality yet. Still rooting for Pens though.

Every Wings game warrants a dozen posts and Pens game gets 1 quick little notice. I see where this forum's loyalties lie. Gonna suck for all you wing faithful when the flightless birds usher you home cupless.

Its just because there are Detroit and Dalls fans here. I dont know anyone who likes Philly, and very few who like Pittsburgh.

I live near to South Jersey and there are a lot of Flyer fans around here. And I'm rooting for Detroit because as a Devils fan, I'm obligated to hate all the other Atlantic division teams.

More likely reason is neither team that makes it to the finals from the East has a chance against Detroit or Dallas O.o

A gutsy effort by the Stars tonight. Extremely well played and a hard earned win. Now it's back to Hockeytown. And the Stars can pack light.

I totally disagree. While I think Detroit is the favorite against the Pens, I think the Pens could easily take it 6 or 7 games, and perhaps even upset Detroit.

Personally I'm cheering for the Pens.

It should be easy to tell from the earlier posts in this thread there are a few Flyers fans, myself included, but with how shitty they are playing, there isn't much to post about. However, I think the Penguins will make it a series against Detroit or Dallas. I would much rather see the Penguins in the cup, as much as I fucking hate them I hate Detroit more. I'd be much more torn if Dallas made it because Modano is the man.

You could tell Detroit wasn't on their A game, and the refs felt like letting dallas win with all those bullshit calls.

hey homer wasn't in the crease so no goal! but lets give dallas the goal with a guy dancing in the blue deflecting the puck in with his leg.

Or hey, lets call the wings for tripping (that was a trip, it was BS but a trip) then let dallas slash someone in the face as he loses control in the same manner and not call anything, AND allow the goal.

Meh sometimes the calls go your way sometimes they go the other way.

I'll take the calls going our way when the series was 0-0.

Not to mention the goal in Game one that Detroit scored with Holstrom sitting on Turco's lap. I am sure you were calling for the refs to wave that one off then weren't you?

Yeah it was a make up call, but you would be defending it if it went your way too.

By the way the Crease Rule i.e. Rule number 78 isn't the same as it was in 99. There is no "Skate in the crease = disallowed goal". The rule is, if you are in the crease and you are interfering with the goaltender the goal will be disallowed.

NHL.com - Rulebook

I won't cut and past the whole thing:

The revised crease rule is intended to implement a "no harm, no foul, no video review" standard. The rule is based on the premise that an attacking player's position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed - i.e., goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper's ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates more than incidental contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgement of the Referee(s), and not by means of video replay or review.

It was quite possibly the most beautiful and correct screening I've seen. Now, as Ishad says the calls certanly have been going Detroits way in previous games and I'll agree on that there have been goals that were allowed earlier were the situation wasn't as clear as this one. It's a shame that they aren't allowed to take a look at the video replays for these things, any unclear situation were the puck ends up in the goal should be up for video review if you ask me.
