| Rangers' Avery taken to hospital with lacerated spleen Avery out for the season with a lacerated spleen. Good news for anyone that had to play against him. Even though I hate the guy, he sure did up his game since signing with the Rangers. |

+26 Internets | Too bad to see Montreal out, but maybe not all that surprising. Price was shakey, but even if they had Huet back I don't think they'd have gone any further. They were totally outclassed by Philly, who is looking very, very strong. Nice to see Colorado get booted. I can't stand Forsberg, even though I think in his prime he deserves to be spoken of in the same breath as Lemieux and Gretzky. I just wish the fucking guy would retire so every Jan-Mar I don't have to put up with every commentator playing guessing games about where he'll end up signing, if he'll be healthy, or what. Once again, a lot of good that signing did the Avalanche (or any other team that runs out making big moves at the deadline). That shit almost never works. A lot of good it did Anaheim, as well. |

| Not saying it would have changed a whole lot, but aside from Forsberg they lost Smyth and Stastny. Still, they got crushed bad by the Wings and I don't really see there being a difference if those guys were healthy for the whole series. |

+26 Internets | Well, as is obvious, if you want to go deep in the playoffs, you need a phenomenal goaltender. I don't think Theodore ever will be one again. For the most part he looks good, but then he'll get scored on because he was way the fuck out of position, too deep in his net, whatever. He's got some pretty deep fundamental problems with his game. Not to mention Sakic's nearly done (but somehow still money in the bank in OT), Foote as well, and so are several others. Colorado is going to have to build around their young talent if they want success, and stop trying to rebuild the teams they had 5-10 years ago. |
