I am a rays fan, go rays- as I live where the rays are from- and remeber going to the vote to vote in the rays (and no I did NOT vote for the 'new waterfront stadium' wtf would we want FLORIDA OUTSIDE shat when we have a nice dome lol) so I am all for the rays...but...

What is with the ump calls- the left/right strike zone last night was horrific- let alone the fact that fox made a little montoge of all the bad calls (for both sides)

Can someone explain to me, what if anything- challanging a call (does that exist?) do in baseball- I am no big sports fan, I enjoy them and support my local teams (even if they are the bucs of yesteryear lol) and understand the basic concepts etc - I see football there is a review etc they re-do or move back 5 yards etc etc- but in baseball it just seems kinda- oh well- you get what the umps say no matter what.

pretty much. in baseball the reasoning for managers arguing a call is basically to get a make up call later in the game which may or may not happen, or sometimes to fire up the crowd.

There have always been this many ball-strike miscalls in baseball. They're just magnified now with the "K-zone." The reality is that each ump has his own K-zone, always has.

That would be wierd if the Phillies end up winning that game Weds. They play 3 innings and then its like... "Woo we're Champions?!" I'm hoping the series goes 7 now. The delay has opened the door for a possible Hamels / Kazmir matchup again if it does get there since they should have 4 days rest.

Really, if people are this pissed off they should just retire the umpire and let the "K-zone" do all the calling because it's always right, but the purists will never hear of it so people need to quit bitching.

People are pissed becaue of the fucked up collective bargaining agreement that doesn't allow the best umps to crew the World Series in consecutive years. This years group has been absolutely terrible, the only saving grace is they've blown multiple calls both ways.

Interesting fact: ESPN had 18 'experts' pick out of the 8 playoff teams which one would win the WS. Not a single 'expert' picked Philly. Seriously, don't you think one would do so just to cover all the bases?
