+5 Internets | I don't think this really works out for the Dodgers well at all. They give up some good prospects and get a rent a player for 2 months. They add one more OF to a crowded OF and most likely instead of sitting Pierre which would be the right move they'll sit one of their promising young OFs (probably Ethier). 2 month rentals only work if they are able to get something out of it. Even if their team somehow passes the Diamondbacks I see them as a one and done team. They won't make it past the first round against either Milwaukee or Chicago. I still don't even see them passing the Dbacks. |

+3 Internets | This was actually a pretty big move for the Dodgers. They can now sit Juan Pierre and Andruw Jones - two of the biggest underachievers.. well ever. That in itself makes the trade worth it. Not to mention LA is atrocious offensively which is surprise surprise Manny's biggest strength. Anyways, not like the Diamondbacks are running away with the division. Dodgers have a good enough chance now as they are going to get, so let them roll the dice. Edit- OK Juan Pierre isn't doing that bad, but for the love of fuck Jones is hitting .163. Case Closed. Last edited by Dr.Knockers; 08-01-2008 at 03:04 PM.. |

+5 Internets | Thing is from all I've heard they're not going to sit Pierre. This is Joe Torre, he does favor veterans. They will likely platoon the other 2 OFs though. Which is a shame since they are both very good, especially Kemp. However it really just means Ethier will lose a lot of playing time. Also pretty silly that this move is made on top of previous bad moves (Pierre and Jones) so its all sort of a big clusterfuck anyway. It seems pretty apparent now that the NL wild card will be coming from the central. I just see no way that LA can beat Chicago or the Brewcrew in a 5 game series (as the worse division winner they would likely face the Cubs). Zambrano and Harden pitching 3-4 times in a 5 game series is killer. Maybe they are hoping to be the next St Louis Cardinals from a few years back, but at least that team in the previous year or two was a 100 win team and they had a good team, just had a bad year. The dodgers are just plain mediocre. There is no way they're winning the WS, much less getting to it. |

+49 Internets | Bay's been doing solid, too. And LAWL at Ortiz stealing a base in today's game. Holy shit, he is probably the slowest runner in baseball. The As were a mess ;p

| That's what happens when you trade away half of your good players for a shot at being good a few years down the road. Of course I'm sure at that time when some of these young guys are getting really good Beane will trade them too =p Gets tiring, been really hard to follow the A's this year. I think some of the players must be pretty disheartened about it, cause they were still in the division race before all the trades started. And they've played like absolute shit since then. |

| A's are trying to win with that low payroll shit and it hasnt happened. They trade away everyone for prospects. They could have had a damned solid team if they ponied up and paid their players a little bit. lol

| Manny to the Dodgers is my last hope for Bonds getting signed =p The Dodgers got their new controversial leftfielder (a pretty bad leftfielder), and just took 2 of 3? from the D-backs. The D-backs need a leftfielder, need a shot in the arm the way it looks like Manny is going to give the Dodgers one, so they need to go ahead and pick up the other controversial, bad leftfielder. I know I'm dreaming, cause he prolly couldn't even be ready til mid-August at the earliest, but that'd make the D-backs Dodgers race the most interesting in baseball. As is now, the Dodgers have Manny to make you watch, and the D-backs have...... a couple really good pitchers and some largely unknown young position players who may or may not be able to hit. |

| Dodgers get Penny back on friday thank god. Johston or whatever the fuck his name is wasnt cutting it. Then in 3 weeks L.A gets Furcal back and hopefully Nomar (15 day DL again) can stay healthy until the end of the season and hopefully a play off run. 1 thing i cant understand is how the fuck Andrew Jones got so horrible in a year and a half. Dude has so much talent just turned 30 and is playing like a Olmedo Seanz right now. haha 2 home runs 13 rbi's all season Manny totaled his home runs in 3 games and has 1/3 of the rbi's Jones has. 18 million dollars for fucking nothing.
