Mike Martz might actually be a good fit in SF. If anyone can bring Smith along, it'd be him. Only problem might be his pass first attitude, but that might change with Gore in the backfield.

Jackson actually does a fairly good job of when to run or not, he just really buckles under pressure and throws the ball up for grabs. The guy needs to learn how to take a sack. I can't tell you how many times I saw him step into a D-Lineman and throw up a prayer when he should have just taken the hit. Having better QB protection would also make a difference though. Birk and Hutchinson can't do everything.

Seriously?? I don't think the Bucs have a chance vs. New York. I hate the giants with a passion, but I can't see them losing to Tampa.

Negatory. We will ride old man Collins all over the Seahawks.

Source: Lions fire Martz, promote Colleto, Brown to lead offense

However, Martz is not expected to be out of work for long. According to media reports, the San Francisco 49ers will seek him out as a replacement for current offensive coordinator Jim Hostler.
Oh hell yeah! I hope this happens. Next they need to bring Holmgren back and get rid of Nolan then we're talking about a team.

Something JJ could have challenged but didn't because of the 'Fins letting Jerry steal Garrett away from them. And it's not like the 'Boys don't have competant people to take his place, after all, one man does not an empire build. Not to mention the 'Fins could really use his help.

Falcons are sending people to Dallas to interview Jason Garrett and Tony Sparano. I would almost expect the Ravens to do the same. Though I think ol'
Arthur Blank will pick Singletary since that's who he really wanted last year.

Chiefs fire offensive coordinator, 3 other coaches

January 2, 2008

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Chiefs have fired offensive coordinator Mike Solari and three other assistant coaches following a 4-12 season.

Solari, offensive line coach John Matsko, receivers coach Charlie Joiner and running backs coach James Saxon were let go Tuesday after a season in which the Chiefs were among the worst offensive teams in the NFL.

Solari, Saxon and Joiner had been on the staff of previous coach Dick Vermeil. Tight ends coach Jon Embree and assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Dick Curl were the only offensive assistants who were retained.

Kansas City scored just 226 points, worst for a 16-game season in Chiefs history, and averaged 276.8 yards in total offense, second worst in the NFL behind San Francisco.

The Chiefs also managed just 1,248 yards rushing, their worst total in a non-strike year, and allowed 55 sacks, second most in team history.

Solari joined the Chiefs as the offensive line coach in 1997, a job he held under three coaches until Herm Edwards promoted him to offensive coordinator in 2006 when Edwards became Kansas City's head coach.

Joiner, a Hall of Fame receiver, and Saxon, a former Chiefs player, joined the team in 2001 under Vermeil. Matsko was the offensive line coach for St. Louis from 1999-2005 before moving across Missouri to join Edwards in 2006.

Bengals fire defensive coordinator
Linebackers coach also sent packing after 7-9 season

CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Cincinnati Bengals, saddled with a defense that again finished near the bottom of the league, fired defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan and linebackers coach Ricky Hunley on Wednesday.

"These are very difficult decisions that affect the lives of coaches and their families," head coach Marvin Lewis said in a statement. "But after meeting with all our coaches, I determined that it was necessary to make these changes."

The Bengals finished 7-9, the team's first losing season under Lewis.

Bresnahan was with the Bengals for four seasons. He joined the team as an assistant coach in 2004 after serving as defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders. Bresnahan was defensive coordinator for the Bengals for the past three seasons.

Hunley had been the Bengals' linebackers coach for the past five seasons.

Chiefs had to do that. Bengals need a lot more than firing a LB coach

I kind of knew this was coming but I figured they'd at least give the guy another shot because of all the crap that happened with injuries this year.

No chance in hell of that happening when the report about him monitoring just what questions got asked by the 'reporters' for the Dolphins site, and what the players answers were came out.
