Anyways, Favre retiring is a surprise after how well he played last year, but it makes sense. He wants to go out on a decently high note. He breaks some records, gets deep in the playoffs, it's all good. He doesn't want to come back next year and fucking tank. He's scared.

Good for the team though. I'm glad they didn't cave into him this time around. I'm fucking sick of him sitting around jacking off telling the team to keep making big acquisitions and spend a ton of money so Brett can be happy. Fuck Brett and fuck his happiness. Go out there and do your job. He had a pretty good receiving corp and a good offensive line. You know why they lost? Because he's a 40 year old gunslinger who makes horrible decisions. There's a reason he's the all time interception leader and it has nothing to do with how long he played. Plenty of people have done that. He makes a lot of bad decisions and tries to force too many balls in.

| He is also the all-time leader in wins, TD's, yards, attempts, completions, and consecutive starts. And like I said, he's drained. But please, continue to show us all that classy NE style of yours. |

| Brett Favre knows more about the NFL than 90% of the people playing and probably half the people coaching. If he says we need to get something then you can be damn sure that you need to get it.

I fucking hate how everybody slurps him because he's a trooper and he plays hurt. Of course no one talks about the last 4 years where he takes 4 or 5 months to decide whether or not he wants to come back because he's not sure if his heart is still in it. I'll remember him as a guy who won his only Super Bowl against a New England team that had no right being there. Someone who held his franchise hostage and completely stunted the growth of his backup (also as a guy who refused to give any help to him even though the job was Favre's as long as he was a Packer). He also attempted to extort the franchise into signing free agents just to "keep him happy". I'm so fucking fed up with pre-madonna pussy superstars who demand the team supply them with their desires just so they can be happy. Who the fuck do they think they are? You're signed to a fucking contract that by the way, you signed yourself. Honor it and shut up. But hey, he's a farmer boy from Mississippi he could never do any wrong anyways. Now that he's gone the organization can finally get back to focusing on the draft and not "I wonder if Brett Favre will decide his fate after the draft or sometime in June". Two Bit, are you honestly telling me you have no problem with him holding the team hostage year in and year out? IT'S A FUCKING RANSOM FOR FUCKS SAKE! Sign him or I retire! Do this or I retire! Oh hey, draft this or I retire! He's a fucking cocksucking asshole who ran that organization without a regard for what the team actually needed just so he could be a little bit happier. Guys like him are poison and regardless of what they may say, I'll bet you there are plenty of guys in that lock room who are happy this shit is finally over. I won't deny he's one of the greats. But that doesn't take away that he was prone to poor decisions and he always put himself above the entire fucking team which should never ever happen.

| Hating on Brett Favre is about as heartless as kicking puppies or slapping babies. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone that thinks he wasn't one of the greatest of all time. You also have no clue what you are talking about, so it doesn't help matters. He did the retirement thing what? Twice at the end of his career? He isn't the first to change his mind or be indecisive. He has given his entire life to this game and it's not something to take lightly.

I won't deny his talent, but saying he's a great player suddenly makes everything he does defensible? How the fuck does that work?

| Wanting his team to make a commitment to winning in the near future makes him evil? This is S.O.P. for the Packers. They don't draft well, they don't do shit in free agency. This is not conducive to winning in today's game. Favre is old. He said himself that anything less than winning it all is unacceptable and it's clear the Packers aren't going to take the necessary steps to get it done. You know the Packers could have gotten rid of him at any point right? He isn't holding anyone 'ransom' as you put it. The Pack needed him more than he needed the Packers.

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | They couldn't get rid of him though because of how people slurp him. They'd be like the Cobra Kai mixed with the Yankees mixed with Nazis and a little Castro thrown in. Remember when they stormed the castle with Frankenstein in it? That'd be Lambeau Field. They do draft well actually. See Hawk, AJ. He's an unbelievable LB. Like I said man, I will not deny his talent or his ability. I will call in to question his ability as a decision maker because he's shown time and time again he tends to be too much of a gunslinger. I just don't like how he handled this situation. Whether it's true or not, the way it's playing out is he didn't get what he wanted and he realized that his team wasn't that great so he took his ball and went home essentially. I mean, come on, NO ONE has a problem with this? Not even a little bit? |

+3 Internets | Strahan "held the Giants hostage" this past year by skipping training camp while debating retiring, I think they did alright. Edit: Quote:
Edit2: I don't believe he's actually retired, and won't believe it until he isn't out there to start their first regular season game. Last edited by cdyhybrid : 03-04-2008 at 01:06 PM.

+1 Internets | Favre was a great athlete who really was a diamond in the rough and proved himself on the field and off. His determination was what made him such a good quarterback. Atlanta was a fool for letting him go and trading him for Bob Whitfield because he was 0-5 on his first ever attempts. I have held onto every rookie card ever printed from him and I am glad to see him end when he did. Marino knew when to call it quits as well. |

| And they beat the team "held hostage" by Favre in the NFC championship game. Seems to me the secret to success is have your superstar player hold your team hostage. You're guaranteed at least a Conference Championship appearance. |

| Manny, Manny, Manny | Going to give it up to one of the greats. I absolutely loved the way this guy played football. From his first year until his 17th year he played the game as if it was a pop warner game. He truly enjoyed the game of football. For me this is kinda sad, because this is the end of an era. Thx for the memories Brett. |
