| Combine drills show a lot really. 40 shows speed, standing broad jump and vertical show explosiveness off the line. Lifting obviously shows strenght. This is all about conditioning and physical capability. Then you have tests like the Wonderlic and others that show smarts and football IQ. Quick thinking and decision making and adaptation. No, you can't point to any one drill/test and say that guy is good because of it, but you can get an idea of a players condition and potential through the whole picture. Obviously on the field performance and tape trump all, but everything is just a tool for evaluation. Of course the main thing most people look for at the Combine is the results of medical exams to ensure you don't pick a lame duck.

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | But see this is becoming the case less and less. Teams are getting way too infatuated with drills and shit and sometimes they seem to forget how guys play. I guarantee there will be one first round mistake where someone took a guy because he had a great combine over someone who can flat out play. |

| How the hell do you know what teams and scouts rely on most? Are you one? Do you sit in on their meetings? Just because ESPN talks about how someone did in a drill doesn't mean that the front office of your favorite NFL team is banking on it. And nice 'prediction'. I bet you ONE MILLION DOLLARS that at least one first round pick is a bust! It only happens every single year.

| the combine is useless EXCEPT for players from small schools. other than that a good 40 time does not equal Great football player (see terrell davis, other running backs that were 3rd 4th 5th undrafted) a great running back just needs to run decent, what he NEEDS is a Solid Offensive Line Blocking for him. reference: see Denver's ability to turn pretty much anyone into a quality running back. oh Patriots just Cut Colvin. Seau and brewski are free agents pondering retirement...decision is due by next tuesday for them. |

Seau and Bruschi will almost certainly come back, but it doesn't really help. We need to get younger and faster. Unfortunately, the guy we want decided to go back to school for one more year. I won't dog him for it though. Education is more important since you never know how your career will pan out. | |

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | No. This is serious. Cancel their season and make them forfeit. Add a 25 million dollar fine. A fucking athlete smoking pot at a rap concert? Stop the fucking presses. You know what would be newsworthy? If he searched him and his entourage and one of them had a cross and a fucking bible. Now THAT would of shocked me. |
