+6 Internets | Wasn't happy to hear about it, but at least it wasn't a season-ending injury. |

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | Brad Hawpe extended by the Rox for 3/17 with a 4th year option for 10MM. It'll buy out all his arby years with one FA year possible (probably a good buy if he can keep up his line). I really love what the Rockies have done this off-season. They've extended Tulo, Hawpe, Corpas, and Aaron Cook. They've taken the huge amount of money they made from their playoff run and thrown it back into their team. This seems to be a pretty good indicator that Matt Holliday is as good as gone. Is it a smart move? Home/Away splits with home on top: Total AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Home 327 67 123 28 5 25 82 28 7 58 4 1 .376 .435 .722 1.157 Away 309 53 93 22 1 11 55 35 3 68 7 3 .301 .374 .485 .859 This will be the true test of how smart GMs have gotten. His away splits frighten me as a Red Sox fan. I could totally see them trying to make a play for him and who knows, maybe Fenway would work for him, but he's clearly a product of Coors Field. I like Matt and I think he's a great player. At the same time when you look at the numbers, they just don't add up right. It's pretty clear how drastic an effect the numbers had on him. |

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | Dice-K's wife gave birth yesterday morning so it seems like he will be headed to Japan to pitch the season opener (great news for Baseball since that's the main reason Boston is playing in Japan). I'm happy Beckett isn't going. Let him sit back and get an extra two weeks of work in before joining the team when we start off in the US in Oakland. |
