| WOW maybe they are cursed. Thinking back on it, wasn't Bill Walton drafted by Portland and had surgery too? I just looked. Walton was also #1 pick by Portland and: "Dozens of injuries, most infamously a chronically broken bone in his left foot, robbed Walton of the storybook career that seemed sure to be his. During his 13 years in the league, he played in only 44 percent of regular-season contests and left the game with a modest 13.3 scoring average. Foot problems limited Walton to only 35 games as a rookie and a meager 12.8 ppg. Portland won 11 more games in 1974-75 than in the previous year but failed to live up to its potential, largely because of Walton's health troubles. During his first two years in Portland, Walton had sprained an ankle, broken his left wrist twice and dislocated two toes and two fingers. He even broke a toe on a water sprinkler and hurt his leg in a jeep accident. " That is 3 centers that Portland Drafted #1 that have been hit with huge injuries their first year in the league. Each of the 3 centers were amazing in the NCAA too and were sort of busts in the NBA. Thats pretty crazy. Last edited by Burkex : 09-13-2007 at 04:01 PM. |

+3 Internets | Let's not overreact. Amare recovered fine from this same surgery. It might take longer than a year (he might be able to play next year, but he won't be at full strength), but unless something comes up, he should recover completely. |

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | This has me a bit worried. He's only what? 19, 20 and he's already had 2 major and serious surgeries that are basketball related (Wrist and now the Knee with the microfracture). Obviously having a tonsillectomy or whatever can't be helped, but this is worrisome. The guy is suppose to be one of the futures of the league and you never want to see someone like that get hurt. |

| Yeah, its just a ploy for them to get OJ Mayo or whoever the top point guard is next year. This was disappointing to hear. I was looking forward to see this team grow next season since they seem not only to have a lot of talent, but guys who aren't the douchebags they've had in Portland the last 10 years. |

+19 Internets | haha exactly w hat I was thinking. Once they get Mayo they'll have a college all star team. However they were very lucky to get the #1 pick this year, though losing Randolph and Oden it's entirely possible they'll be in a position to get another lottery pick at least. I always felt Durant should've gone #1 (texas homer), but I sort of feel bad for Oden now. How did this happen exactly? Don't you go over an athletes body from top to bottom thoroughly before drafting them? |
