2007 MLB Postseason

Predictions Sure to Go Wrong (credits to Mike&Mike):

AL
Indians over Yankees in 5.
Red Sox over Angels in 5.

Indians over Red Sox in 6.

NL
Rockies over Padres in tiebreaker.

Phillies over Rockies in 4.
Diamondbacks over Cubs in 5.

Phillies over Diamondbacks in 7.

WS
Indians over Phillies in 5.

I don't think Yankee pitching will hold up in the playoffs. Red Sox are just too inconsistent to last through the entire post season. Indians look incredibly strong. In the NL, Rockies and Phillies are the two hottest teams going, but I see Rockies cooling off when they get into a playoff with the Phillies. The Diamondbacks/Cubs series could go either way, but they won't get past the Phillies/Rockies winner anyway. Wait till next year, Cubs.

I love the heart that this Phillies team has shown this season, but I'm not sure they have the pitching to go deep into the playoffs. Outside of Cole Hamels they have nobody who can shut a team down, and their pen is pretty bad. On the flip side they can score runs in a hurry, so who knows. I'm certainly not going to write them off though, if their bats stay hot they can beat anybody. I'd love to see them make a run like the '93 team did.

Yankees > Indians in 4
Red Sox > Angels in 5

Red Sox > Yankees in 6

National League
Rockies > Padres in tiebreaker

Phillies > Rockies in 5
Diamondbacks > Cubs in 4

Phillies > Diamondbacks in 5

Red Sox > Phillies in 6

I've never been very good with predictions, but I do believe the Sox are going all the way this year, no matter whom it is they face.

I was in Philly last time the Red Sox won the World Series and it was boring as fuck, even though I am a Red Sox fan. Since I am going to be in Philly for this World Series it would be awesome and so much fun if the Phillies won. It would also be lots of fun if they make it to game 7 of the World Series and lose.

Rioting either way, amirite!?

I HATE how clutch the Yankees are and they will put up a good fight against the Indians, despite their pitching. If they manage to edge past that one, I doubt they'll have stamina to beat the Red Sox.

I only know NL through fantasy baseball, but AL seems to be far superior to NL this year. It could be Yankees, Red Sox, or Indians in the WS but I am sure they will beat whoever they are up against.

For the entire year the Phillies' bullpen was definitely their weak spot, until September. Their play during September is in my opinion the reason the Phillies are in the playoffs. Without a doubt Hamels is the best pitcher on the staff. However, I think Moyer proved he still has something left with his performance on Sunday. Kendrick has been a solid starter, but the fact that he is a rookie bothers me. Hopefully he won't buckle under the pressure. Lohse has pitched well in his last few starts and hopefully that will carry into the playoffs. Eaton is the biggest problem, and even he didn't pitch to poorly his last outing. As long as the Phillies starters can provide quality starts, and our bullpen continues to play well, pitching shouldn't be to big of a concern.

In the end, it will probably come down to if the Phillies bats stay hot or not. I think the Phillies and the Rockies are the only team from the NL that will have the fire power to have a chance against the AL. Since the AL team is yet again going to have home field advantage during the WS, neither team will get the full benefit of their home field's "hitter-friendly" confines. Also the Rockies, as mentioned earlier, play much better at home. Unlike the Rockies, the Phillies have a winning away record, and Jimmy Rollins has hit better outside of Citizens Bank Park.

I actually prefer a pitching duel, but won't mind if the Phillies can muster enough runs to out gun their opponents.

You guys forget it's the postseason, anything can happen! How many really thought the Cardinals were going to win it all last year or the Marlins when they did or that the Sox would come 3 back to beat the Yankees. Think outside the box

Than...

The sky starts to darken and the ground begins to rumble. Tiny demons emerge from the center field of Wrigley stadium. At the helm of this demonic onslaught emerges a old man riding a large goat with red fiery eyes and blacken hooves. Taking a closer look, the fans realize that this is no mere man they have shunned. For he is SATAN! Slayer is heard in the distance playing "Hell Awaits" as Wrigley begins to cave in on herself. Thousands of fans are swallowed up into the Chicago sewer system as they make their descent...... straight to hell.

Only Schilling walks away unscathed. For the Apocalypse has begun.

I'm hoping for a Cubs-Sox series. Cubs winning it all finally over the other previously cursed team would be fitting.

I'm a huge Yankee homer, but if the Yanks face the Angels at all, they will lose.

I am a Red Sox fan so I want to see the Sox in the WS. I really think an amazing WS would be Sox vs Cubs in which the WS is held in the 2 oldest ballparks (Fenway and Wrigley) and the 2 most cursed teams in baseball play each other. Plus it would be held in 2 great cities. I would root for the Sox to win but if the Cubs won I would be happy too because they deserve a WS. The Sox had their day in the sun in 2004. I wouldn't mind seeing the Cubs win it that would be pretty cool.

So I will be cheering for the Red Sox, the Cubs, and any team that is currently playing against the Yankees.

Hilarious.

Also, I second the win-win of a Red Sox vs. Cubs World Series. I just don't think the Cubbies are past their curse quite yet.

The Cubs are solid and they've got a great 1 2 punch of Zambrano and Lilly. I like Cleveland over the Yankees merely off pitching. Having to see Sabathia/Carmona TWICE (when the Yankees have yet to see either all season) in a series is devastating for anyone. I don't think Boston beats them unless Beckett/Dice/Schilling are on. If Beckett/Dice/Schilling pitch well and Gagne continues to come around, they'll make the series and probably win it. The Yankees started Wang so there's pretty much no chance he pitches twice (unless its both on 3 days rest) so that's a huge boost for Cleveland. As for the NL, the D-Backs are a terrible statistical team, but they have Brandon Webb so that has to count for something. I just can't see them getting around a team as solid as the Cubs. Rockies are a great team and I'm sold on them. I think they win tonight hands down.

Also, does anyone know if the game tonight is even televised?
