10 WWE Superstars Suspended

Surprise steroids!

Duh...

ESPN - WWE suspends 10 for 'wellness policy' violations - ESPN

Quote:
WWE did not release the names of those suspended. A source close to the investigation said that WWE was told that the following wrestlers were among the clients of one of the pharmacies under investigation, Signature of Orlando: Shoichi Funaki, Dave Bautista, Adam "Edge" Copeland, Chris "Masters" Mordetsky, John "Johnny Nitro" Hennigan, and Shane Helms. Chris Benoit, the wrestler who killed his wife and son before hanging himself in June, was also a Signature client, as were two other wrestlers who recently died, Eddie Guerrero and Brian "Crush" Adams.

From another board :

-----

So to sum up the SI list via Meltzer, the 10 appear to break down:

Raw - Orton, Kennedy, Umaga, Regal, Haas.
SD - Chavo, Funaki.
ECW - Morrison.
Injured - Edge, Helms.

Linked to Signature Pharmacy, but apparently no transactions since Feb '06 - Batista, Booker, Santino, Masters, Simon Dean.

And don't forget Rey Mysterio is linked to the Dr. Astin investigation.

Again, these suspensions are only based on information from the State's Attorney in Albany, this has nothing whatsoever to do with WWE's in-house testing. Other than (as has been pointed out) the fact that WWE's testing didn't catch any of them, so what does that say about the testing?

Even 20 minutes notice that a test is coming would allow someone to take a masking agent, and there is also the "I can take as many steroids as Benoit was getting if I have a prescription" loophole.

-----

Someone else made the very good point looking at that list, people in golf are laughing about most of their physiques etc and whats the point of testing. A few of those named above don't exactly have the roid monster "look" so all those who claim that, at some point, virtually everyone in wrestling does it could be valid. The investigators are allegedly also going to be supplying names of people from Baseball, NFL etc etc so this story is going to keep on going!

For me, either test every damn sport out there or just say to hell with it and let everyone do what they like. If they want to "Flo-Jo" and break every record in the book by a mile and then "fall down, go boom" a few years later, let them! Simplistic maybe but the constant drip feed of people failing tests every few months sucks for whoever's sport is under the microscope at that point.

Funny thing is that they got suspended because of a "wellness policy" like you would at a job at Burger King or some shit, not because it's sanctioned by a Athletic Commission because it's "unfair". Since Pro-Wrestling is as much of a sport as Cirque du Soleil is.

From what I've read, Signature was a huge pharmacy not just linking pro wrestlers, but other athletes as well as firefighters, police officers, and even more so just every day people (jerry mcdevitt who is WWE's lawyer or spin specialist shall we say appeared on some show and talked about it).

Hey, at least the federal gov't is cracking down. It's about fucking time.

Wrestling in general is full of steroids (especially WWE). It's not as prominent on the indy scene because the guys don't make much money and between costs of living as it is, it's hard to pay for expensive drugs. Plus, Indy guys are typically smaller, quicker, high flyer types. The big guys that ARE on the indy scene, are usually big as in tall and fairly lean. I remember when Brent Albright left WWE and entered ROH he was jacked as fuck. Like 6-8 months later, he's 1/4 the size he used to be and while he's still built pretty well, it's natural muscle tone and not steroid tone.

I wonder how many more people have to fucking die for them to admit they have a serious problem. Rather, maybe someone has to die in the ring.

Sad too see this lot go, but I guess its for their own good.

I loved Edge, Chris Masters, and Randy Orton.

Hey jackhole, kids watch these people. They are (deserved or not - mostly not) role models.

Agreed. I'm not saying these tools aren't actually good at what they do, and I know it takes plenty of physical training to pull off the stunts they do, but ultimately it's not as if they're really competing against each other.

As for them being "role models," ha. Cletus role models, perhaps.

I even thought "wrastling" was ignorant when I was 10 years old.

The point is, tons of kids of people watch it and look at the amount of kids who fucking idolize John Cena. A few of my friends went to Summerslam and they said every kid they saw had on a Cena shirt and all this stuff.

Whether you like wrestling or not, other people do. They're in the public eye and they're looked up to by people even if they know it isn't real. Don't be so ignorant as to say that only hicks look up to "wrasslers". The 80s are gone and WWE are a form of entertainment. They're style is now such that protects their talent, but at the cost of quality to the point where even a small kid can tell it's fake.

I grew up watching wrestling, I still love Ring of Honor and I'll watch WWE if nothing else is on from time to time. I mean fuck, I grew up idolizing Hulk Hogan as did millions of other kids. That guy was the ultimate role model figure of the late 80s and early 90s.

So yes, some people enjoy wrestling and yes they know it's fake. It's a form of entertainment just like people who get paid to drive cars for a living or a guy who hits a ball with a fucking stick. How about someone who can throw a ball into a basket? It's really no different. They're glorified actors.

I can't stand the fact that all these wrestlers do this stupid fucking shit when they have all these kids who look up to them. Some of them are fucking stupid.
