| I'd wager it was all planned. They were pushing for a recommended sentence of 1 year from the beginning so this was probably part of the agreement. Take 2 years, do a treatment program and do a year.

| Yeah, I know. But it just seems like an utter fraud to me on any level. Hey kids, going to prison for 2 years? Claim you're a marijuana addict and get 1 year off by completing rehab! It's not like you have somewhere else to be, or anything else to do. I hate to quote Bob Sagat, so I won't. But I wasn't aware we had a crippling epidemic of marijuana addicts that warrants such largess from the State. Clearly going through rehab for your pot addiction will be at the same level of difficulty as any heroin or crack addict. |
