There are groups that specialize in trying to "reform" fighting dogs into acceptable pets. The success rate varies, of course, but I hope it's at least been looked into as an option.

The only dogs I've ever seen who just can't be normal pets have been abused physically or otherwise mistreated (not socialized, fed gunpowder or other crazy shit, etc) but none of that is specific to fighting dogs, it's true for every kind of dog.

Can't remember the name off hand, but their is a friggin show on Animal Planet that is a whole thirty minute segment of how they make fighting dogs into calm, loving, affectionate dogs!

sorry but call me a facist or whatever you want to... but why put all the resources in to trying to turn a fighting dog in to a good pet... It is just better to take all that money and give dogs with no families a chance for life. And spare me the lets be humane and try to save every dog.... Hundreds of thousands of strays are put to death every year in the US, how about we just deal with those instead of throwing all this money at dogs that are more likely to maim and destroy even though they are "rehabilitated"

I just think it's sad that an entire breed of dog is labeled just because of irresponsible owners. A pit bull with a responsible owner is a happy, friendly dog that is extremely smart and very active and fun to play with. I blame the goddamn rap culture, coupled with the primitive ass backwards southern culture, those 2 together cause shit like this.

You are absolutely right... I am not talking about genetics here... I am talking about dogs trained to kill. I don't care if they were Black Labs, you put dogs in rape stands and electrocute losers, the atmosphere will turn any dog in to a killer. Again, this is environment, not genetics....

would tell you the same thing till one of my best friends pit bull got into a fight w/ the neighbor dog and when he went to break them up, he was the one to go to the hospital. This dog has never once ever shown any sort of aggression towards a human till that day. Never once in 5 years. He was lucky to get out of his backyard with his life. IF you breed a dog for aggression and give it a pack mentality if at anytime that dog wants to be the alpha you better be prepared to kill it yourself because you are going to be its target in a crisis situation.
