| More Michael Vick....Question? LINK: Pit bulls at Vick's house face deadline - Yahoo! News What I am referring to is the first paragraph. "RICHMOND, Va. - More than 50 pit bulls seized from Michael Vick's property face a Thursday deadline to be claimed. If no one comes forward, they could be euthanized." So one of the things they are jumping his case about (killing off dogs), and one of the things they are trying to use to increase his term, they are also willing to do. EUTHANIZING the dogs...wow, they say 50+ dogs they are just gonna kill off, but it is ok for the government to do it, but God forbid a black quarterback does! |

| pretty sure the government wont be electrocuting them, gonna go out on a limb and say no drowning them either. probable wont be bashing them to death either. I bet the government wont even choke them to death. |

| I do see the irony in it all though. "We are going to put you in jail for killing dogs and we are going to take your dogs and then .. kill them." Of course I know it's more complicated than that, but on the surface it is a tad ironic.

| Romo is a manwhore | This is pretty typical of what happens to dogs who are misused. I've learned that at least from watching animal planet. Thousands of dogs are rescued every year and each one has to go through the process of making sure they are fit for adoption. A big one: Food Agression. If a dog is aggressive around food, then they're basically done for. Vick's dogs had a death sentence the second they were picked up. |

| Shit thread. What do you do with animals that are irreversibly aggressive? Turn them loose? Put them in adoption shelters? Oh yeah, I think you forgot to tell us that Tom Brady would have a parade thrown for him if he did this. Yeah...that's the story. |

| Even PETA, is saying they should put these dogs down... and we all know PETA would rather you eat fake eggs to prevent one less chicken being born in to the world. The fact is these things are killing machines... who the hell would adopt any of these dogs unless they wanted them to be guard dogs or for other fights. And we all know the guard dog thing doesn't work so well, just ask Vin Rhyme's butler (sorry I probably butchered the spellling) |

+6 Internets | To play devil's advocate a bit, fighting dogs are bred for temperment typically among reputable (lawl at that word in this context) breeders. I am assuming someone like Vick could afford to go with the well established breeds and definitely would, so the dogs wouldn't be a threat to humans, the opposite would be true. Especially the younger dogs. The fact is that these dogs are not killing machines at all, they fight each other because years and years ago they were bred for hunting and baiting, no different from any other dog. They are just especially good at fighting. The idea behind breeding for temperment is that you do not want to fight a dog that is going to turn around and bite your fucking head off. They perform to please their master, just like pulling dogs do, or show dogs, or whatever. They need about as much training to fight as a pulling dog needs training to pull, which is practically none, they just need the willingness to please their master and encouragement, that's it. These are not special demon dogs bred by Satan who can only kill, they are just like every other dog. |

| You clearly haven't read the indictment. The guys doing the training were Vick's friends and absurdly unprofessional in the training. Given their treatment of the dogs that we know about it, it's safe to say the dogs were inhumanely treated and a potential threat to humans. |
