| Sven was England's second most successful coach ever results wise, after Sir Alf Ramsey who won the World Cup. I just think he gave the England players too much freedom on how to play, rather than what he is doing now where he constantly gives our captain Richard Dunne instructions from the touchline. I'm not expecting us to compete with the big four this season but our billionaire owner has stated that he is implementing a long run strategy to make us compete, so if we get Top6 this season expect us to spend a lot of money in the summer. | I dunno. Getting 3+ teams each year into the last 8 of Champ's League, with england players all starring in each. Gets on your nerves when they don't produce the same stuff they do at club level. Typically, the manager is the first person who always gets looked at. Right now I can't stand the politics involved with squad selection. Either you are good enough when you play, or you are off the field. *But Lampard is so popular!!* etc. And the whole kicking Beckham off the team straight away, just to declare authority and nothing else. Get some media hype going. Get a kick in the nuts when you know you have to ask him back. Nice. Maybe it's just our fierce media involving managers. The Sun's sport columnists should take over the England Job as a committee, see how they do then.

| It's bothering me that all the clubs are now being bought by rich foreign business men. On one hand you have clubs bringing in more talent, but on the other hand it's only going to hurt us more as a national club. Instead of talent scouting in division 1/2/3 or putting emphasis on key youth programs and getting them field time etc, every club has to spend many millions on foreign stars to come in, JUST to compete at the same level as they did previously, not just to get an advantage! Sure the league is getting even better to watch now that, with everything trying to close the gap on the top 4, who knows who will finish where this season. And yes, Arsenal should never count anyway:P

| Man Utd need to sign a real striker or get Saha fit both rooney and teves are not out and out goal scores they are flare men they sit behind the front man if you watch the games Man Utd have played so far so many great crosses are going un-noticed because there frontmen Teves and Giggs atm, are not in your Linker/Shearer/drogba league they are not out and out goal scorers they won't rush into the area attack the front or back post, they wait around on the edge of the area waiting for the 2nd ball if both of them are doing it then it don't work. Not that i care much i don't like Man Utd it would be quite amusing to see them struggle this season, the only good thing a Man Utd fan could get from that game was i thought Hargreves looked very good but him and Carrick won't work to well. I think the 2 man contenders this season will be Chelsea and Liverpool if Man Utd bring in a out and out striker then add them but if you look at the squads of Liverpool and Chelsea this season they have the best by a long way they have good cover for every spot witch is what Chelsea lacked last season. I still think Tottenham will do very well this season they had a bad start but they always do it is beacuse Jol brings in to many players every season if he just brought in a few each year so players have more chance to bond and learn each others movements instead of having to learn it all again every year because he brings in 7-8 players. If Jol does not get them into the top 4 this season or at least win some Silverware then he will be out of a job, Only Chelsea have spent more money then Tottenham since Jol took over and he has won nothing and not got them to the Champions league and they have looked utterly clueless in the Uefa Cup. Also real football is played in the lower leagues where the real fans are not the prawn sandwich brigade that is in the premier league now days |

| Because aside from Wolcott (who doesn't always start), we don't have any English players on our 11. Hell, I'm not familiar with their school boys and reserve squad, but I don't even think we have any English players in the reserves. Wenger said the reason was they're too expensive for the quality of player you get (See Carrick, Michael). He has a point though. If you can go out and get young talent from other European countries or even the African countries, why bother with overpriced English players? |

| It's still early. Arsenal with a huge win over City. I think Arsenal fans have seen the last of Lehman with Almunia's brilliant saves today. I'd much rather go to war with him then Lehman. |

| Man City lose again to Blackburn. Seems like another standard year for Rovers. Get a few big draws/wins and sit around the middle of the table. Just enough that they won't get relegated, maybe enough to qualify for UEFA Cup. Also, GO VILLA GO! BEAT THE RUSSIAN BLUES! Any thoughts on the whole Ronaldinho to Chelsea business that was going around? |

| Amahk is right, Barcelona plays 4-3-3 with Ronaldinho deployed on the left. Abramovich is a Ronaldinho fanboy but I doubt a serious bid was made. Chelsea just signed Malouda as a left winger and that would be his most suitable position in the standard Chelsea formation. Now it's possible with the inclusion of Ronaldinho that they might change up to a more attacking style but would Mourinho be willing? He has experience with the style from his time at Barcelona but he seems settled with Chelsea at the moment. Last edited by Mimirswell : 09-04-2007 at 05:13 PM. |

| Word is Barce wants like, 85 million pounds for him. My fucking jaw dropped when I read that. Ballack seems to be on his way out of Chelsea come January at the earliest. If they had no intention of selling him, they wouldn't have kept him out of their CL roster. |

Either way, yeah, he's a horrible fit for Chelsea and their style. For some reason, I could see AC Milan trying to make a play for him. It's not really the best fit, but the idea of Kaka and Ronaldinho in the same attacking midfield on a CLUB level is pretty intimidating. Won't happen, but it'd still be a fun thought. What will be interesting for the EPL is what Liverpool can do with their soft schedule coming up. They don't play a real tough team until they get Edison at Goodison Park on October 20th. Then there is the monster match against Arsenal on 10/28 at Anfield (I truely believe they will both be battling out for the title as opposed to Utd and Chelski). I still stand by my statement that Liverpool will win the league, but it doesn't look like the big 4 is going anywhere this year. Nobody else seems nearly good enough. edit: In fairness as an Arsenal fan, I will admit we've got just as easy of a schedule. We've got the Derby against Spurs the 15th, then we've got Derby, West Ham, Sunderland, and Bolton, (the latter two at home). But then again, we've got Man Utd 6 days later at the Emirates. If we can win both those games against Liverpool and Man Utd, they'd have only themselves to blame for not winning the league.
