+1 Internets | If there's one player I'd like to see gone from the Sox it would be Manny. Statistically speaking he may be awesome, but his cocky attitude and absurd pricetag really rub me the wrong way. Ellsbury has the speed of Crisp, is a great fielder, and can do some pretty amazing things inside the batter's box. Oh, and it wouldn't cost $20 million to keep him around. That alone is reason enough to trade him, as it would give the Red Sox some breathing room when it comes to negotiating contracts (like Schilling's next season). |

| I'm not sure you'd want to get rid of Manny, you need him to protect Big Papi, J.D. Drew can't fill that role, no Manny batting clean up means Big Papi getting walked or not seeing good pitches Unless you get A-Rod, then your problems would be solved, but Cashman would be stupid to let A-Rod go, specially to a divisional rival As for Schilling, I don't know if Theo would bring him back, I mean he can still pitch and has been pitching great lately, but you've got a good rotation and that kid that threw the no-hitter recently, his name escaped me, may be your new #4 or 5 pitcher, and I think Clement comes back from Tommy John surgery next year (if he's not a free agent that is) Also, Schilling displayed interest in pitching for Tampa Bay, am not sure how serious he was regarding that ![]()

| before the signing the talk show people where panning drew.. and they've been right THIS YEAR. gagne = crap so far as to signing curt next year? wait til the year is done. if he finishes with 12ish wins then yes. as your fourth or Fifth Starter however wakefield just EATS innings... 27 starts...26 decisions..16 wins..so far potential starting rotation next year: becket - 17w so far probably 18-20w next year dice-k 14 w so far ~18-20 win next year(this is the adjustment year for him) lester - ~15w potentially next year bucholz(the rookie that did the no-hitter) potentially- if what he has shown pans out an 15-18 w pitcher... and then wakefield or schilling both are perrenial atleast 15-18game winners... i'm at 81-91wins just from the rotation.... closer papelbon setup okajima also they have 1 or 2 other young pitchers that are supposed to be Quite good and that is without going OUT of organization for pitching |

| /agree Their Bull Pen is amazing this year. The first time I can really say that I am completely comfortable w/ the pitching. They have a potential 3 20 win pitchers for next season. And the no hitter was the cherry on my cake for this season so far ![]()

Honestly as far as the Sox go. I'm not convinced Clay is ready for the work of a FULL-time rotation spot. I'd keep him in the Tavarez/Snyder role of a long reliever/spot starter. I'd keep both Schilling and Wakefield. Schilling will most likely only get one year and Wakefield has at least another 3 being a knuckleballer. It makes sense.

+1 Internets | I agree with the sentiment of Clay accompanying Snyder and Tavarez as long relievers, or filling in for a missing starter (since hes shown he can do that pretty damn well). The guy has talent, he just needs some more experience until he gets in the groove of things and hits his stride. On another note, can we not mention Gagne anymore? I miss Kason. ![]() Last edited by Cadrid : 09-07-2007 at 05:29 PM. |

I'm still convinced someone has to takeout JD Drew so Ellsbury can play every day. Also, didn't Manny like, strain a hamstring and he's been out what, 1.5 weeks now? Either way, I'm preparing for life without Manny. I believe next year is the last year of his contract. Yep although he has two options. Okay Sox fans, here's the question for you. Would you renew Manny for 20 per for 09 and 10? It's a tough call. I'd say you could always DH him, but not with Ortiz.
