Its not good news for Vick, and being an Atlanta resident I can tell you people here have always had very mixed feelings about him. His image here wasn't all that great to begin with, so its hard to say.

The feds rarely indict unless they pretty damn well know they can convict. An ESPN article pointed this out noting that when the feds actually go through with an indictment, historically they have a 95% conviction rate which has probably got Vick scared shitless, and for good reason. Goodell is going to be under massive pressure from many outside sources to deal with this as well, and given the heinous nature of the crimes I wouldn't be surprised if he made an example of Vick.

And the damn Falcons didnt keep Schaub, glad the Steelers are my team at least.

I actually agree with you. He should be throw into a pit with 10 or so hungry pit bulls. That would be justice.

fucking execute the guys showing up to these shows, that's just sick. How can you kill something that shows you such untainted, unrestricted love and devotion?

What's truly scary is that this is just news because Vick is famous, this shit happens all the time, specifically in the lower US states. Dog fighting is a whole culture down there, with hundreds of fighting rings and this sort of thing happens regularly.

They just don't see animals as anything more than expendable competitors, your dog isn't winning? Just kill it and try a new one, it's just a dog.

It's fucking sickening.

Well, yeah, now that he has been indicted (apparently there were big questions on whether or not they could despite how easy it is to indict someone), the evidence is really overwhelming. He's in a huge amount of trouble. Even if he doesn't go to jail, I don't see how he plays another game in the NFL again.

Pretty much all the credible sports reporters agree that Vick is royally fucked.

In the indictment's most harrowing parts, federal investigators describe what happened to some Bad Newz Kennels dogs that either lost matches or did not perform well in test fights. After a March 2003 loss by a female pit bull, codefendant Purnell Peace, "after consulting with Vick," electrocuted the animal. In April, prosecutors allege, Vick, Peace, and Quanis Phillips, "executed approximately 8 dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions." These animals, the indictment claims, were killed "by various methods, including hanging, drowning, and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."
Source: The indictment (scroll down)

It looks like he has two informants that will be testifying against him:
Quote:
It appears from the text of the indictment that there are at least two cooperating witnesses ("scumbag cooperators") who had direct dealings with him. At least one of them is a person whose dogs fought Vick’s dogs, and my guess is that it is someone who has "flipped" and, in defense parlance, is "singing for his supper." While defense lawyers love to yell about that, if the government has any corroboration for the person’s story (e.g., photos, receipts, consensual body wires or phone taps), the defense can yell all it wants, but a jury will most likely believe the scumbag cooperator. If there are two cooperators who corroborate each other, the chances of being acquitted go down dramatically, especially if there is similar corroboration for the second cooperator.

The sponsors have already started to drop. The first to go is AirTran:
Quote:
Marketing: By association, this is embarrassing for every commercial entity that has aligned itself with Vick. Among sponsors, AirTran has already dismissed Vick. The Humane Society of the United States is calling on Nike, Rawlings, Powerade and Kraft to do the same. Nike reportedly declined and it will be interesting to see whether the sporting goods company suffers any backlash.

Nike declined to drop him? Well I guess thats not a big deal as they may be sticking with him until he's proven guilty, but my goodness what a bastion of moral fiber that Nike is...

This should be an ESPN front page headline

Difference being this is a federal indictment, as said on many a radio station, he has a very high chance of being convicted on one of these charges, if not all. Secondly, on the chance that he is found innocent, americans have shown that we care more about our pets than we do other human beings. The evidence is going to be very damning regardless, then the COURT of public opinion will take hold and he will be guilty. See Don Imus.

Take all that, add special interest groups such as PETA, Humane Society. Mix in protests at football games, pressure on corporate sponsers. As 2bit so eloquently put it:

Micheal Vick is royally fucked
