If he pleas down he won't get the betting charge. I'm sure that's in the deal. This leaves the door open for a return however unlikely one is.

If convicted, yes. But if he pleas then I think the lawyers will get that charge dropped. Probably one of the conditions.

Just speculating of course, but it makes sense.

Honestly, with all of the co-defendants pleading with conditions to assist the prosecution, there is no reason to cut Vicks a reasonable deal. It's in the prosecutors best interest to carry on this ordeal as it will give him a substantial boost to his career and at this point, he has what appears to be a rock solid case.

It's in *our* best interest as taxpayers to cut him a deal. Save millions on a trial and free up one of the premiere courtrooms for other trials.

Im thinking he opted to not plea and fight. Pretty sure I read/saw on the news he needed to do the plea before these guys went to court.(so im guessing the plea wasnt anything close to what he wanted if thats the case)

Right but most Prosecutors (read: people) don't operate in the best interest of the taxpayer when concerning cases that have the propensity to wildly influence their future prestige/income.

Some legal analyst mentioned that if they are offering him a plea deal, then there is always the possibility that their seeming mountain of evidence may not be as strong as they lead on.

Especially since the main 3 witnesses at the moment appear to be dirt bags, and moreover, dirt bags who took a deal to keep their asses in jail for less time in exchange for testimony.

A low life covering his ass isnt the most credible of witnesses, even if he is testifying against other low lifes.

Either way, unless he is as innocent as he says he is, I dont see vick not taking a deal. 1 to 2 years vs the potential for a 20 year sentence if the feds add a racketeering charge on top of the other charges seems like a no brainer to me.

Still, 3 low life's testifying against you is a lot worse than 0 people testifying in your defense.

I've heard 8 witnesses, the 3 that turned on him, plus those that can put him at various dog fighting events. Those other five are going to be credible informants and the like, hell, maybe even undercover agents.

If the rumors of this photo are true, that's about all they need. Vick, the defendants and a dog in a picture = guilty. Sure, you may say 'well it's just some dudes and a dog' but these other people have agreed to go to prison for a year or two in order to not go to prison for several more years. You don't do that just to 'stick it to Vick' or if you are innocent.

A grand jury in the district convenes on Monday. Prosecutors announced their intentions to file a superseding indictment in the case at last month's initial court hearing. A new indictment would include new charges, including racketeering, against Vick, the two people with knowledge of plea negotiations told the AJC.

No surprise really, but Vick has agreed to go to jail for 12-18 months reportedly.
