| Come on, he's the dreamweaver! He's been pretty good in his last six starts after coming off the DL. 38 2/3 innings, 7 Earned Runs, 20 strikeouts!!!! That's a 1.63 ERA. Edit: I just vomited inside my pants because SportsCenter spent almost two minutes on the Mariners. Last edited by Blumpster : 07-12-2007 at 11:05 PM. |

| If you still think that ERA is meaningful as a measure of a pitcher's talent: U.S.S. Mariner » Blog Archive » Evaluating Pitcher Talent Go. Read. Learn. That is if you weren't being sarcastic, which I think you were. As far as Ichiro goes; nearly all of the criticism of Ichiro is because he is basically the anti-Derek Jeter, and nearly every sports journalist in the US has a massive man-crush on Derek "Just Past a Diving" Jeter. | You guys are lame. After coming off the DL he's been the best starter on their roster, and he's been consistent in those six starts. It's obvious he needed the time off to regroup and get his head on straight. He's allowed the least runs(7), walked the least amount of batters(8), his WHIP is 1.07, and as said earlier his ERA is 1.63. 2-0 record. For comparison, Felix Hernandez in his last six starts has compiled a 2.79 ERA, 42 innings pitched, WHIP of 1.07, and allowed 13 runs, 9 walks.. 3-1 record. I'm not saying Jeff Weaver is a better pitcher than Hernandez, because Weaver doesn't have near the crazy stuff Felix does, but he also has a ton more experience and he can still throw the ball well. Now I'm not going to go through and figure out all the strike, ground ball, popup percentage crap because I don't have time, and I'm sure Dave's done all that already. Lay off the dreamweaver, at least until he starts sucking massively like he did earlier. |

| If Ichiro put up numbers closer to Erstad's 2000 year I'd be more impressed. I don't like pure slappys and I've heard the he hits lots of homers in batting practice things a hundred times. For Wade Boggs and Ichiro. Batting practice is not even close to the same as game conditions. Anyway I've come around a little on Ichiro and can respect his game and I'm glad the man love for nationally has at least cooled from a few years back. Now I think he's about right where he belongs in the rating of players, not overrated or really underrated. Just has played on a crappy team for a few years. As for what I think it will end up like. AL Angels, Boston, Tigers, Twins (WC) NL Mets, Brewers, Dodgers, San Diego (WC) |

| I live in Seattle so I guess I should be rooting for the Mariners to make post season, but really all I care about is NYY missing post season. Fuck I hate them. I did enjoy the love affair story. |

| Man all of you guys are assuming the Mets are going to win the NL East. No love for the Braves. I'll stick up for them. Chipper banged up for some of the first half, A Jones have a career worst year, 3-4-5 spots in the rotation a mess and they are still only 1.5 games back of the Mets as we speak. Not to mention the royal fuckjob in Interleague play getting Boston (6 games), Minnesota, Cleveland and Detroit. Look out for them. Their schedule is significantly easier in the second half (grats playing the NL Central a bunch of times), the pitching is working itself out, and I doubt Andruw will continue to hit .200. Plus the Mets are a mess right now themselves. |

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | I don't think the Braves are that good. I watch the Mets every other night and honestly, the Mets are just playing TERRIBLE as opposed to the Braves being good. If power numbers aren't down almost across the board, then I truly believe the Mets would be up 8 or 9 games. That being said, some say the lack of steroids is causing the power drop off, does anyone else think that MLB was juicing the balls? I mean, aside from a handful of elite hitters, almost everyones power numbers are WAY down (Ortiz and Manny hit like, 90 combined and they haven't even reached THIRTY yet). I thought and still do think, that steroids were big, but that MLB was also juicing the balls. Thoughts? |
