| Low calorie diet and more exercise. You can't burn fat off of specific areas, you only develop muscle underneath. The only way he will lose them is if he loses total body fat.

| I hate just going to wikipedia for everything... Askmen.com is pretty badass for anything guy-related, fyi. askmen.com's article Quote:
I saw a discovery channel special on gynecomastia the other night. The doctor on the program said that in this kid's case it was irreversible through exercise. Unfortunately spandex and surgery might be your friend's only option ![]() Last edited by Ironhawk : 06-27-2007 at 06:04 PM.

I say post pics of your friends tits or gtfo. Like others said, you'll need to lose fat all around before you get rid of the man boobs (kind of like trying to lower the water out of only a certain part of a swimming pool). If you want to build muscle to help the process you can do exercises where you push things (push ups etc are fine, if you're unable to do push ups, you can elevate where your hands are standing to make it easier). However, if you simply lower your fat content you'll get er done. Last edited by Tuco : 06-27-2007 at 06:43 PM.

| the rock had gyno, which is basically a true form of 'man boobs' and, as the article said, isnt removable through exercise. it's doubtful your "friend" has this condition, so just keep doing what others have suggested. Gynecomastia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

Hmm, I'll assume Zarcrath made that post as a preparation to make this post so he doesn't look like he's looking for advice to lose his man boobs.

| First of all, Spot Training is a myth. You cannot...I repeat...you cannot work specific areas of the body and lose fat in that one spot. Fat deposits are spread throughout the body generally equally. However, genetics can play a factor in this as some people are just hardwired to store all their fat predominately in certain spots. Males do tend to store it more in the stomach and upper body, while women tend to store it in the hips thighs and butt. So don't think that rowing or push ups will remove the fat in your chest. Yes, exercising and eating right will decrease your body fat level, but over your entire body. So to really remove your moobs you need to lower your body fat. Do this by lowering your overall calorie consumption and by working out 30+ minutes everyday. Figuring out your calorie needs you should try to determine your Basal Metabolic Rate. Here is a Wikipedia link that has a crude formula for figuring it out. (Basal metabolic rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) If you have particularly low muscle mass that might be an expounding factor. As you don't have the muscle development in the chest to "fill out" (so to speak) the flesh and fat in your chest. Weightlifting and Calisthenics will help if that is the case. Disclaimer: I'm not a professional. Just 10 years of weightlifting and exercising and reading a ridiculous number of books on said subjects with some college courses in Nutrition and such. So my advice is one internet stranger to another. |
