To the comments on "Did the WWE rush a tribute"

It was at best a damned if you do, damned if you dont situation.

They obviously couldnt go through with the "McMahon Death" Storyline, thats in bad taste regardless of what happens.

I dont think they have ever not done a tribute show following the death of an active wrestler (See Eddie Guerrero and Owen Hart).

If they didnt put on a tribute show, it would have been a disservice.

This whole event seems very odd right now, guess we will get more to come in the following days.

Yeah the news comming out now, is that the presumed scenario is of a double murder suecide.

According to one of the theories, he killed his wife on saturday, waited a day, killed his son, then waited another day and killed himself.

This scenario goes against, everything I have read of this man, and what I have heard from ppl who know him in person and are friends with him.

I just cant stomach the idea. It takes a calculated vicious individual to comit two murders, of loved ones in such a long time frame..

It's one of those things where we may never really know what happened. I mean, forensics only go so far.

What really bugs me is that The E said they received suspicious texts or something on Saturday and Sunday, but they didn't call for a welfare check until Monday afternoon? Why the fuck did they wait so long?

Obviously I'm not going to blame WWE for this, but if they had a feeling that something was wrong (and it seems like they did), it seems like they may have waited to absolve themselves of blame.

BTW, I always wonder about wrestlers because they all most certainly use steroids to get bigger. Lets face it most of these guys are not going to get that big naturally by lifting. Using crazy amounts of steroids can make you super depressed and also make you go on roid rages. It's a wonder that there are not more deaths in this sport.
Right around the death of Eddie Guerreo, there was an article floating around that said there was a 6% death rate among professional wrestlers. And that alot of the problems weren't due to the steroids, but the pain killers and other drugs these guys take. They get so beat up, and unless they are in the upper echelon of wrestlers, will get fired if they take time off for injury. Also, since they spend most of their days on the road, many of them get so lonely (from being seperated from family), that they abuse recreational drugs and alcohol.

It is proper not only to use comma to notate where to breathe, but also where to gently sob.

God, this is horrible. I moved to Atlanta this year. Just two minutes ago on the local news, channel 2 news announced that the investigators state that he choked his wife to death and smothered his son.

Why is it that these actions don't match what people have said about him in his life? I know that these guys live in a great deal of pain all day, but it looks like he just snapped. When we were watching his last appearance on ECW, I told my family that he just didn't look right in the eyes and that something was wrong. A week later, he is involved in a murder-suicide.

Yeah. That's what bothers me about the whole thing. Knowing the way people felt about him and what they said, I had a hard time believing he killed his son.

There was something floating around that his wife had killed his son and he killed her out of rage, but it was just a rumor mill thing and there was nothing official about it.

Just some more info from Cnn.com: SI.com - More Sports - WWE wrestler Benoit,¿family found dead - Tuesday June 26, 2007 12:50PM

ATLANTA (AP) -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press Tuesday.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said test results may not be back for weeks or even months.

Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in DeKalb County.

Investigators believe Benoit (pronounced ben-WAH) killed his wife, 43-year-old Nancy, and son Daniel during the weekend and then himself Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three separate rooms of the house, off a gravel road about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club.

Fayette County Coroner C.J. Mowell did not return calls seeking comment. The answering service for his funeral home said he was out of town.

Authorities also declined to say whether drugs or steroids were found inside the house. "We're not releasing any information as far as what was located inside the house," sheriff's Sgt. Keith Whiteside said Tuesday.

Asked about the condition of the interior of the house, Whiteside said investigators found "nothing really out of the ordinary." He said Benoit was found in the home's weight room, his wife in an office and the son in an upstairs bedroom.

Whiteside said toxicology tests could take up to a week or longer to complete.

Neighbors said the Benoits led a low-key lifestyle.

"They were nice," said Lorre Jones, who lives across the street. Her daughter Alaina said: "We would see Chris walking in his yard from time to time. He wasn't rude, but he wasn't really outwardly warm."

Jimmy Baswell, who was Benoit's driver for more than five years, placed a white wreath at the Benoits' gate Tuesday.

"I saw him with his family all the time," said Baswell. "They always seemed like they were the happiest people."

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."

The WWE, based in Stamford, Conn., said it had been asked by authorities not to release further information on the deaths.

Benoit, born in Montreal, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles. His names in the ring included "The Canadian Crippler."

"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the company said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit had maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling. The Fayette County Tax Assessors Office lists the value of the house, situated on more than 8.5 acres, at nearly $900,000.

The WWE canceled its live Monday Night RAW card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

Benoit's wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name "Woman." They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of a story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.

Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

Benoit became a standout at an early age among wrestling prospects who trained in the dungeon basement of the house where fellow Canadians and professional wrestlers Owen and Bret Hart trained. Owen Hart was killed during a wrestling event in 1999.

"He was like a family member to me, and everyone in my family is taking it real hard," said Bret Hart, a five-time champion with the World Wrestling Federation. The federation has since changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment.

The greater theme here when I think about this hard is that the industry as a whole is in such shambles. The abuse these guys put themselves through for our entertainment where they have to take it up a notch to the extreme on a daily basis. I remember when wrestling was a great ol' time as a kid. Now it's rapidly becoming so sad to me. I am sad for what it has become and sad for the wrestlers themselves.

The storylines are just ridiculous as evidence by the car bombing stunt. They feel the need to raise the bar higher and high in the name of entertainment. What's next? Wrestling grizzly bears? It may be fake but the injuries are not. The abuse their bodies take are not fake. I remember when it was clean fun between two dudes with bad costumes tossing each other around and at the end of the day even if you knew it was fake, you enjoyed it. Pro Wrestling and boxing should just fade away.

What a shocker.

I was thinking maybe with him already being on the edge from steroids or anything else, maybe he found out his son really wasn't his and he snapped? Maybe he found out his wife was cheating on him. Could be many reasons for this happening.

Hes a fucking loser if he really did kill his wife and kid then himself. Their saying on CNN he strangled his wife and smothered his little boy...seven year old kid!

There should be no tribute. His name should be stricken from all of wrestling and there should be nothing but shame associated with what he did. To kill your own child is beyond me.

First we celebrate the release of Paris Hilton on the news all day, someone who lost her license over a DUI and violated parole twice beofer going to jail, and now we have people talking about a tribute to a man who killed his wife and son. Nice media we have here..

Thats IF he did it that is....

LOL, I laugh at all you fuckers who were jumping on people making jokes about this shit and acting like it's a great tragedy. The guy was a fucking messed up piece of human shit, killed his son, raped his wife and then hung himself because he wasn't man enough to deal with his shit. Sucks his family died, but who gives a shit about the guy himself? Someone said they were numb...fucking numb? That's fucking horrible. Are you seriously saying you felt something for this guy and that his death has effected you? What a sorry sack of shit you are. There are people in this world who deserve compassion but a drug addicted murderer isn't one of them. If anything you should feel bad for his wife's family and their loss.

This shit happens every day but you only hear about it when it's some fucker on TV. Shut the fuck up with your whiny baby bullshit and get over it. The loser offed his family and hung himself in shame. He deserves nothing.
